Small dance floor

Jennifer, on July 20, 2017 at 8:17 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

So after looking at some youtube videos of weddings at our venue, I'm nervous that our dance floor is way, way too small. It's 9X15 and we are hosting about 100 people. Obviously at this point I'm SOL to make any changes, but I want to hear if anyone has any experiences where they felt the reception/dancing was too crowded, and how bad that was. I'm just worried that the dance floor is so small, it will feel like a club, and no one is able to move. Ugh I might just be over thinking this, but I'd like honest feedback if anyone had any bad experiences at weddings because of this.

There are some guides online on how big a dancefloor should be to accommadate your guests. I was told that 12×12 would be good for upto 80ish people. (Obviously depending on your crowd and how many people will be dancing). My thought is that you're fine. Not all 100 guests will be dancing at the same time.

Look your venue up on Yelp. See reviews of people who have gotten married there and if you don't see anything mentioned about the dance floor, ask the reviewers about it via Yelp. I did that for my venue since it's on 3 levels and I wanted some honest opinions about the experience, I also wanted their advice on food choices. 3 out of the 4 people I contacted wrote back within a week.

I will have around 100 guests and I contacted places to rent dance floor and they told me 18x18 is the size for 100 guests. 18x18 or 16x16 will do based on the experts.

LOL, I'm afraid ours will be too big! Online calculator said 16x16 for our 100 guests.
