Slightly unconventional dress ideas?

Amanda, on July 21, 2019 at 7:24 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6
So, we're getting married next year, and we're already doing a lot of it different from the norm -- neither of us are big on ceremonies, so we're just doing a small courthouse wedding with a fancy dinner at a nearby restaurant. Pretty bare bones.

The part I'm stuck on is my dress. I'm not really one for dresses (kind of a tomboy here) and most fancy wear just makes me feel uncomfortable in my own skin. He wants to keep the standard dress code, so I can't, like... do without the dress completely, but maybe there's a particular style out there I could look at or something? I don't have any specific ideas, but I also don't know a lot about how these things work so I'm open to suggestions.

Many wide legged jumpsuits look like dresses when your legs are together. That would be so cool!

Jumpsuit! As more of a tomboy myself I liked dresses with pockets, maybe more of a tea length so it's not so poofy and intrusive, or an empire cut so it's more comfortable.

I really wanted to do something like this, but empire waist garments make me look pregnant even though I'm not lol.

Oh wow, that is... pretty much exactly the kind of thing I was hoping for, I think! I hadn't even considered the pocket thing too, that would be awesome. Is there a particular cut that might look better on someone who's a little more heavyset? That's always something I'm a little self-conscious about, haha.
