Slide show during reception

Sandy, on January 10, 2019 at 4:50 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 15

This question just came up today. Is it common/tradition to do a slideshow (kids picture to adult to couple) during reception? 100% of my out of country friends did it on their wedding, but I'm not sure is this a thing here? Thank you!!

    Hello Sandy!

I totally think this is a personal preference! I've been to weddings were the couple did a slideshow but I've also seen people put baby pictures out on a table or a display (like a shadow box or in frames)! It's whatever you two prefer and feel most comfortable with Smiley smile

Ive only seen it once at a wedding and I thought it was so cute. We have the option of doing this at our venue and really want to do it.

Thank you! All the weddings I attended the couple did it (4 out of country, 3 in US) but I don't recall seeing any posts or blogs talk about it, therefore it wasn't on my to do list. LOL~

I've seen it as a before ceremony thing for folks who were waiting. Never during the reception. My parents and FILs talked about making one for us but I doubt they really will.

I’ve mostly seen it during rehearsal dinner but I’ve also seen it a couple times during the reception. I’m not a fan of it so it’s not something we did.

I've seen them at bridal showers and have loved them. I've also see photos out at tables that correlate the age of the bride and groom with the table number. For example table 5 would have a photo of the bride at age 5 and the groom at age 5. I liked the idea so much I'm doing it at my wedding in August!

The only time I dont like slideshows is when the guests are forced to sit, be quiet, and watch. Its awkward being forced to see someone's "cute" naked tub baby pictures in the slideshow. I have no problem with it when it's used in the background and people are able to get up and dance, etc.

I've seen in twice in receptions, I always think it's cute even if it's just during dinner!

Thats what I worried too, sometimes if it too long it does get boring! (from my own experience too).

Me and FH talked about it last night, since our wedding is next Saturday, we are just gonna do pictures and see where we can put them. Because all we have right now is a 30 x 20 canvas and I think it will be nice to have a few more pictures of us display somewhere in the venue. LOL

I am a videographer and almost all my clients order slide shows. It is quite inexpensive and gives a lot of emotions. Google " wedworkflow photomemories "

It's totally personal preference. The only time I've seen one in a wedding setting was at an anniversary party. It was a great idea and cute to see. But people were too busy eating/mingling/dancing to pay attention even though it was loop the whole time.

I think it's a great idea. I'd love to do something like that since we're not having a videographer but my wedding is outdoors and I'd have to rent a screen, projector, etc.

I think its a preference if you want to do it.

I have seen it done and I think it's cute I have also seen like a photo collage on the couple through the years on the welcome table which was cute, or assorted pictures displayed in the cocktail room. They are def. a conversation starter.
