Skipping the veil?

LanaKane, on October 15, 2017 at 9:07 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 27

Initially, I didn't want to wear a veil for the ceremony. But after my mother caused such a big stink, I thought, why not? I ordered a veil from Blanca Veils off Etsy and I don't really like it. I'm thinking about just wearing hair accessories since I plan on wearing my hair down anyway. Is anyone else skipping wearing a veil altogether? What hair accessories did you wear instead? Did anyone think it was weird?

It's your wedding day, yours is the only opinion that matters. My cousin wore a hair accessory that was like a tiny mini round hat/veil that clipped into her hair. (I don't know the name for that style). It's becoming more common to not wear a veil, so don't sweat it.

If you don't like it, skip it.

    Im skipping the veil.

My mom questioned it but I told her a lot of people don't wear veils anymore and she seemed to accept that .

I'm wearing two hair pieces instead.

    A comb and a headband/vine.

My hair will be half up / half down

I'm not wearing a veil. I have always said that I didn't want to wear one. Prior to officially ordering my gown, I started second guessing this, worrying that I would feel "bridal" enough without one. So, I tried some on with the dress the day I went to figure out sizing and order the gown with my mom there, and we both agreed that it was just "too much" going on with a veil and the dress. I plan on wearing baby's breath flowers as my hair accessory, and my florist will make hair combs with baby's breath for me to give the hair stylist.

I'm not doing a veil. I'm not religious and I'm not really into all the wedding stuff. We're just having a simple beach ceremony so it doesn't really go anyways. I'm wearing a ball gown, hair down and a hair clip. That's it.

I'm doing one of those hair vines so it can flow down my hair! I'm pushing it over to the side and really didn't want a veil.

I'm wearing one, but you should absolutely do what makes you feel comfortable and beautiful. The only thing that's "weird" is doing something you don't want to do because of what someone else thinks.

I am also not wearing a veil. Like Melissa, i tried when on with my dress, and i really didn't like the way it looked on me. I am wearing this hair accessory, its a full headband, and i think it is enough on its own:

I had a small veil that was really more like a headband. It looks poofier here than it actually was. A seamstress friend of my mom's made it for me. We attached a brooch to it that my MIL wore on her wedding day. I debated a veil but felt like it was too much--my dress was pretty simple.

I honestly always grew up thinking I would wear one. I always wanted too. Then I was proposed to and we started planning and envisioning and I couldn't see myself in a veil.

Im doing a flower crown. Still haven't decided what kind, big or small but anything else just feels weird to think about.

My mom kept asking me if I was sure and I was like yeah Im positive. She may feel hurt for whatever reason, but you need to stand firm in your decision.

Eh, I hadn't put that much thought into it before I went dress shopping. Almost every one that I tried on made me feel like I was wearing a costume. I found one that I totally loved, but it was $400... I'd rather spend some money on hair extensions (mine will be down) and skip the veil than pay that for something I'll wear for half an hour.

I'm skipping a veil. I just couldn't picture one on my head-- even after the bridal consultant put one on me. It just wasn't me.

No veil here either. They tried one on me at the bridal shop and I looked like mother Mary. Pretty hair with little clips or whatever is so pretty

I have never wanted to wear one, so I'm skipping the veil. I did try some one with my dress when I ordered it, but none of the veils felt right and they definitely were not something I would wear. I'm planning on wearing a hair piece or vine of some sort, but haven't found one yet.

I didn't want one until I tried one on and fell it love. I think it depends a lot on your hair, your dress, your style. If it's not doing it for you, there's no need to have one!

I'm not wearing a veil because I don't want to cover the back of my dress. I'm going to wear my grandmothers brooch in my hair. Possibly smaller things too. No one thinks it's weird. It's a beautiful way to embellish your hair that lasts all night (rather than removing your veil) and in my case it's sentimental. A lot of brides are turning away from veils now

I am opting for veil for the drama in the pics. Amazon has cheap veils
