Is anyone else skipping the cake cutting? I am indifferent and FH is adamant that we don't do it. "It's sooo stupid, why would you smash cake in someone's face???" I tried to explain that this wasn't necessary, but he still doesn't see the point of pretend cutting the cake. My mom thinks people...

My mom thinks people won't know when to get cake or when they can leave. She also thinks that we'll be sad that we didn't get pictures of us next to the cake... Thoughts?

Why would you ruin lovely cake by smashing it into someones face, especially if one of those two people has spent hours on makeup and hair??? I know some do it, but I think its a waste of good cake. I also hate the idea of someone feeding me cake!! (While I do love cake) My mother is a caker so it is important in our family, we did cut it. But that was all, we literally cut into one of the tiers to make the first cut and then the hotel took it away and cut it up for handing out later on. I have been to weddings where there was a fake cake and it was left sitting there all night and not cut. It depends on you as a couple and whats important to you. There is no right or wrong.

DD skipped it and when things were plated and set out for guests they had no issue figuring out that they could go ahead and eat it.

We're considering doing a private cake cutting just off to the side, so we'll still get the "photo op" but not make it be a big ordeal. I'm not sure what we'll do yet, I just don't really think it needs to be a big thing anymore
