It may be too early to ask this question but I have had this on my mind so I thought to ask for advice FH and I are pretty good at making decisions which are mutual and amicable. FH and I are pretty good at making decisions which are mutual and amicable. But we are having a really, really hard time deciding on a first dance song. I thought this would be the easiest part but strangely, no.

How weird would it be if we just skipped the first dance? I know eyebrows will be raised, but hopefully all the effort we have put in to ensuring thaf our guests are comfortable, well fed, properly entertained and have access to good liquor will redeem us.

Thoughts?

@firstoneat56, you are my shero. As someone who doesn't listen to this genre, your list provides a good starting point.

To all posters who recommended looking for acoustic/ string quartet versions, that's an excellent idea! Wish I had thought of that.

    Will keep you all posted.

We don't plan to do any spotlight dances (I really, Really, REALLY don't want to dance with my dad and am very uncomfortable dancing with/in front of family at all), cake cutting, tosses, speeches, etc.

I'm totally skipping first dance. When I go to other people's weddings , I find that its usually pretty boring to watch especially if to a long song. . . anyways. . . . Do what you want and don't do what you don't want to do. ITs your wedding Smiley winking

I wouldn't skip it. We're literally ONLY doing the first dance. No toast/cake cutting/father-daughter dance.

We skipped all of the traditional dances. Our parents didn't want to dance and we both aren't the best dancers. Some people asked, and we just said we were skipping it and dancing with everyone! No one really cared. We just had open dancing and lots of free alcohol, so everyone had a great time!
