Skipping Favors?

We recently decided to skip favors to save a little money, but now I'm having second thoughts. I don't want my guests to think I'm inconsiderate, however, as my MOH said, how exactly does a bag of M&Ms (for example) adequately thank guests for traveling, potentially buying new clothes, and buying...

We recently decided to skip favors to save a little money, but now I'm having second thoughts. I don't want my guests to think I'm inconsiderate, however, as my MOH said, how exactly does a bag of M&Ms (for example) adequately thank guests for traveling, potentially buying new clothes, and buying gifts anyway (lol).

We won't have a candy buffet or photo booth, just dinner, cake, and an open bar. Should I skip them? Has anyone else skipped them? If you convince me we should have favors, they'll be edible.

Thanks!

I'm now leaning towards favors. FH still thinks they're a complete waste though. Hopefully I can convince him and find something cheap that's not *too* cheap.

Which of these would you prefer:

-A box of candy (like Carole's daughter's wedding)

-A donation to cancer research in honor of FH's father

-A photo booth (I just found a deal for 2 hours only. It's $100 more than we were willing to spend, but we may be able to make it work).

Pfft, I'm not paying for appetisers, a 3 course meal, drinks and then giving them a gift. I don't like the tokenistic sentiment of them, and am not doing them out of principle. Plus, they are either useless or so cheap there is really no value or point in them. I do like photobooths and candy buffets but I guess I have never viewed them as favours, more as entertainment for the night. We had a dessert buffet at our engagement party and people took stuff home at the end of the night only because we had tonnes of left overs.

I may or may not do candy on the dessert table - it will be more because I want it for decor than because it's a favor though. lol.

I really want a photobooth so that doubles as a favor.

I have thought about making seed bombs - I think they are cute. And I also want to make the cute little cootie catchers/fortune tellers.

Also I think I am doing older books as part of my centerpieces and have thought about telling people to take a book when they leave but that depends on if I buy all new books for the tables or use part of my collection, and how many end up on each table.

So besides the seed bombs, any favor I am thinking of now will be part of the decor or entertainment anyway.

In recent memory, some favors I have seen - pics of the bride and groom in frames (destination wedding and this was the reception at home), cookie bags and mini jars of jelly that were spoiled. Which is why I probably won't put the work into making something homemade. And photo booth with mag.
