Sister moh surprised me with white dress, is this ok?

My sister is my MOH and she had already bought her dress, she surprised me with a white gown with some slight gold hints, not sure how I feel about this, should the MOH wear white and after she is so happy with her dress should I tell her she can’t wear it?

I know you don't want to seem like a attention freak, but you are the bride, the bride and groom are supposed to be center of attention during this time. It's not being a bridezilla to not want your MOH looking like a bride. This is your one day to stand out. She just seems to be trying to make your wedding about her. And she probably knows you don't want to deal with conflict and knows the family sees her as innocent, so she knows she can get away with it. This is your time to finally put her in her place.

If you are okay with it then thats what matters. If you aren't then she should change. I was at a Wedding this past weekend and the brides sister who was the MOH was also in a white dress and it just looked off. Guests were talking about why she was in white, and the MOH (the sisters) dress was whiter then the brides. In family photos and wedding party photos the bride herself was lost because the sisters dress was white and really took the spotlight from the bride. Now maybe if it was more of an off white creamy color it could have been different - but it looked odd and it had people talking.

How do you feel about the white dress?

    Be honest.

Don't answer that question with, "I'm afraid I'm being unreasonable." The question is how you, personally, feel about the dress, specifically.

That answer is what really matters. If your first reaction is "I really don't like it" or "it bothers me," then there is your answer - she needs to be told to get something else. If your honest answer is, "it doesn't bother me at all," then it's fine. But I think it's important that it doesn't bother you at all, not just "only bothers me a little bit."

I will tell you that I, as a stranger, think that looks far too much like a wedding dress for the MOH to be wearing. Even if the bridesmaids were in white, that looks like a wedding dress to me. White can be worn by attendants, but there are still rules - look at Kate Middleton. When she got married, her sister wore a white dress as MOH. But it was a simple dress, with no embellishment and a minimal train.

Honestly, It's a dick move that she got a white dress. I would be mad. You have every right to tell her how you feel. Ask her how she would feel if you (or the person standing next to her) wore a white lace dress to her wedding.

I think it's awful that your mom wants her to wear a tiara! Like what? Does your mom tend to favor her over you because that would be a huge red flag to me. If you're fine with her wearing white then it's okay but, that looks like a wedding dress. It seems to me that your sister is trying to be the center of attention with your mom's help.

Bridesmaids originated in the Middle Ages and wore identical dresses/accessories as the bride to deceive bandits on the trek to the church. Perhaps that is her reasoning? If you are uncomfortable with it, let her know ASAP.

I know right! From thinking maybe it was a mistake, after my mum said this I thought are you actually kidding me. I don’t know if she’s putting these ideas in her head, but has definitely enabled it all. She doesn’t really favour her but she’s the last sister that is single, and it seems unbelievable to think she’s trying to make it like it’s her wedding. My mind can’t even go there! And I’m not blaming it all on my mum thought, my sister still should have thought/ asked if unsure.

Just really hope she doesn’t cause any issues on the day!

Hello yes you should tell her she can’t wear that dress and plus it’s look like a wedding dress but tell her you appreciate everything she is doing but it’s your wedding and not hers you pick the wedding dress that’s make you happy it’s your day and good luck..

Um I would say no. .. personally I would not feel comfortable but that’s me. In my culture (Eastern European orthodox ) if you do that —that’s on purpose and a slight towards you. Def rude to me. It LOOKS bridal.

I agree! Yes, check on cultural and traditions with her. Personally I would not like it at all. It is your day and you are the focus. Oh, and spouse too. 😂

That dress looks bridal... if you're not happy with it, then have her change it. It's your wedding, not hers. If she can't see that, then maybe she shouldn't be MOH.
