Singing

Jessica, on May 17, 2019 at 12:18 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 7
I want my best friend to sing at my wedding , but I don’t want her to sing the first dance.. where else during either the ceremony or reception could she sing? And what would be a good song? Thanks!

If you didn't already have a song to walk down the aisle to she could sing that . She could sing for the father daughter dance if you're having that or right after u say ur vows as the bridal party is exiting.

You can have her sing a song while you walk down the aisle.

    Hi Jessica!

Welcome to the WeddingWire community Smiley smile

There are so many options! You could have her sing a song for you as you walk down the aisle either before or after. Another idea is that she could sing the father-daughter or mother-son dance if you plan on having those.

Has your friend sung at a wedding before? Perhaps she may have a song suggestion or one she is comfortable performing. I would involve her in the decision and get her suggestions Smiley smile

We didn't end up doing this, but it was one of the possible things our officiant suggested as kind of a "Break in the monotony" of a ceremony. I'm not sure what kind of ceremony you are doing - church, religious, short & sweet, whatever - but if you have any sort of "stuff" in your ceremony like a unity portion, a parent gift portion, etc, that makes a great place to have someone sing. For example, we played music during our "parents' gifts" portion (our take on the "mothers' rose" ceremony) and it was about a minute and a half - so we could have had someone sing, but chose to use a recording. I've seen vocalists at weddings during candle lighting, sand ceremonies, really anything that involves no spoken word but paying attention to what you're doing.

I know it's a lot of words but hopefully that makes sense lol

We had a couple sing to us at our wedding last week. Smiley heart They did it just as a scheduled part of the reception. They ate first (well...right after us)....and then sang after while others were finishing dinner. Just before cake cutting/dances/etc. They sang "I Will Be Here" by Steven Curtis Chapman and it was simply gorgeous!

Thanks everyone! She is also my maid of honor. So I think it is going to have to be during the time of the unity or the father daughter dance
