You could do local florals, backyard picnic style. we choose a similar theme for our engagement party last June and it turned out s lovely. these days I'm wishing we had just gotten married that day. lol

I would first come up with some type of theme depending on what you both like and go from there. Pinterest has the best ideas!

What time of year? I'd start there, then go with a color scheme (or theme), and then work on acquiring the dress, bouquet, accessories, etc.
