Simple diy non-flower centerpieces. Need ideas!

Elizabeth, on June 14, 2020 at 9:23 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 10
Hello fellow brides to be! I'm one of many brides that had to push my wedding out a year to May 2021 because of COVID. Since we have a whole extra year now, we decided to go with a more traditional reception which comes with way more planning. Our wedding will be a destination wedding in FL so any reception decor we do will have to be shipped to someone's house beforehand so we don't have to lug extra items on our flight.

Sooooo talk to me about simple centerpieces we could make and would transport well. I'm thinking about using 3 inexpensive picture frames (possibly painting them to match our wedding colors), assembling them in a triangle to display our engagement pictures, and sticking a battery operated votive in the middle to illuminate them. Has anyone done something similar and can share pics? Or have other easy ideas? We aren't really flower people so other than wedding party flowers for the ceremony (bouquets and boutteniers), we aren't budgeting for flowers for the reception. Spam me with ideas! 😃

I’m doing lanterns - they’re inexpensive, ship flat, and come in so many colors to match your theme.

^ I second the paper lanterns. Paper decor is relatively inexpensive and adds visual bulk so you need less to fill a space. What is your theme/colors? Bunting and garlands are great too.

If you don't wanna ship a bunch of stuff, maybe check out places down there you can rent decor from, especially heavier items.

Thanks for all the awesome ideas! We decided we are going to do something like this with simple silver frames. 3 sets of frames will fill up the center of the table more and at the end of the night, guests can take a framed pic home with them, and we have less stuff to have to bring home with us. Wins all around. I found a set of inexpensive 12" table card holders to display table numbers and we are going to buy a digital download from etsy for the table numbers, name cards, and seating chart and call it a day. 😂Simple diy non-flower centerpieces. I don't know if this is feasible given your circumstance, but we are doing cookie jars as the centerpieces, with of course cookies in them which will also be their favors. We will place little goodie bags at each place setting.

I am with you on the paper, we were originally going to go with an 1/2 outdoor 1/2 indoor venue and were going to do origami cranes, but it didn't work out.
