Silly Limo Question...

LavenderJoy, on December 30, 2013 at 1:07 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

So I am looking at prices and types of limos and can't help but wonder if a 14-passenger limo REALLY fits 14 people or could it fit more?

Silly question, I know. But our wedding party is 16 (excluding RB & FG) and I just wonder do I really need to get a 16 passenger or 18 passenger limo to accommodate all of us?

FH and I are thinking of getting a limo for transportation from the reception back to the hotel or our home for after party (still deciding the location of the after party).

Sorry for the silly question ladies! #BBMoment

I believe that the number of seats has to do with how many seat belts are available. You can probably squeeze more in but if you have a full dress, overweight (I hate saying that but its a fact of life, typically they take more seat space) riders or need to transport additional items, you may want to go with a larger limo.

I would say definitely not-- most limos and party busses I've been in were a tight squeeze even below the maximum. So I wouldn't even try to get more.

And some companies might not let you put more in anyway. Good luck!

ETA: Theresa's comment about the dresses is a good point! They will take up a lot of room.

ALWAYS take the number it fits and subtract 2!

It's so uncomfortably tight if you put all 14 people in. I would get 18 person vehicle if you have 16.

I've rented a limo on 6 occasions and it's always PACKED with the advertised number. That's the number they can legally cram in- not what is comfortable.

THis seems like a bad idea. I think it would be really cramped. And if it's a matter of seatbelts then I'm not sure the limo company would even let you stick in extra people.

Ours was a 14 passenger party bus. The seats were all individual, so you really only could fit 14. I sat in the front so the dress was no problemo. As far as a limo is concerned, you may be able to fit more.

We just had the party bus make multiple trips to the hotel. People didn't mind. It was a free ride.

@SoontobeMrsGlover- BAHAHAHAHA! I didn't even take notice that was the part that was playing when I recorded the video of the jukebox! And my sis thinks my ipod playlists are wack so that was her ipod list playing!

Thanks ladies! I think I should def go with an 18 passenger limo based on your input! I completely forgot about the dresses and all that and that not everyone is the same size.

@Samantha & LetItSnow: Can I break up the hours of time? Or do the hours all have to be consecutive?

Go with the larger! We had a bus for our family and they loved it. Groom and I just had a regular rental car that my aunt drove me to the church in And him and I drove to the reception. Which was amazing cause I was able to spend 40 mins just me and him and we got out of the car at a pretty spot and took selfies! There was room in the bus for us in the way home but we took the rental car since we didn't drink anyway

I agree with those who say you should go for a larger vehicle. Our stretch Cadillac Escalade was advertised as a 16-18 passenger vehicle. We had 13 people, some camera quipment, and a small cooler. Of those 13 people, one (of the photographers) sat in the front seat, so really just 12 people in the main part of vehicle. Honestly, there wasn't all that much room. I couldn't see squeezing 6 more people in the vehicle. Maybe 2 or 3 more, but that's it. My dress wasn't massive (but I probably took up space for two people because of the dress) and the remainder of our bridal party and parents were average size.

I doubt a limo company would let you break up the hours of time. They would have to find another wedding that had different hours than you and also wanted to break up the hours. Not likely to happen.
