So I ran into an older family friend today while at breakfast. I was heading straight to work after breakfast (a hospital kitchen) so I was wearing my work clothes, etc. She asked to see my engagement ring since she hasn't yet and I showed her my silicone band that I wear at work and explained that...

So I ran into an older family friend today while at breakfast. I was heading straight to work after breakfast (a hospital kitchen) so I was wearing my work clothes, etc. She asked to see my engagement ring since she hasn't yet and I showed her my silicone band that I wear at work and explained that my engagement ring gets banged around a lot in the kitchen. She looked at me like I had 5 heads. Like it was the stupidest idea she'd ever heard of. I wasn't really self conscious about it until now..... I guess I'm asking if this is childish or looks silly? Should I wear nothing instead?

I just don't wear a ring when I'm doing things in which my ring could get damaged. My sister and her dh have the qalo rings though. I personally don't see the point but that's just me

I don't see anything wrong or silly about it. Actually, it's really smart! Smiley smile

My husband traded his ring in for one and I plan to wear one to the gym, fishing, doing yard work.. but I haven't found one for me yet. I have really small figures and I need to try mine on for size.

Not childish and totally practical. Tons of us wear silicone rings due to our jobs/lifestyles.

IMO: I think they are kind of dumb lol.

If it were me I would just wear nothing.

I have three different colored silicone rings bc it's against dress code where I work. There's nothing wrong with it!

I work in the hospital as a scrub tech...I see more silicone bands than actual wedding rings. They are becoming super popular.

Victoria, I can sympathize..... I feel like I'm in high school since it's also against our dress code. It's a wedding band, not a gang t-shirt. I just don't get it. But thanks all for the kind words!

You are fine. I am a nurse and I wear one as well. I know co workers who have damaged their rings from the soap and alcohol foam. So, for that reason most of us wear them.

Like Chelsea I am a nurse and think it is a great idea. I am paranoid that when my ring is made that I will lose it in gloves

I wear one at work as well since my e-ring tends to rip through latex gloves.

    I think it's smart!

I agree with others who have said it is probably a generational thing. I have a Qalo ring I wear when I am at work or clinical. I used to not wear any ring, but my finger felt naked. I also take my engagement ring off when I shower, clean, cook, etc.

No, it's absolutely not silly. People are way too pushy with their unsolicited advice. If you're not supportive, why are you saying anything? I can't wear my engagement ring at work (an industrial bakery), but even if I could, I wouldn't and I'd wear a band like you do. Do what makes you happy!!

I have a second job at a coffee shop, and I have a silicone ring for when I work there. I love it, I get a ton of compliments, and its super comfortable. FH wasnt sure about it, but now he really wants one.

Not silly. FH and I will be ordering them soon for both of us to wear when we work out. I hate going to the gym without my ring, I feel naked. But I don't want to mess it up
