Signature Cocktail Ideas--please Help!

Chelsea, on August 25, 2021 at 3:00 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 14

Hi there!

I want signature cocktails to make life easier on the bartender.

We've decided on an Old Fashioned for whiskey lovers.

But for the other, I'd like something light and more in the vodka/gin realm. I kinda want it pink too, but don't care too much. We're having our wedding and reception in a garden, so I'd like to name whatever we have The Garden Party.

Our bartender is an older man who recommended cranberry, vodka, sprite. I know that'll be an easy drink for the bartenders to whip up, but I haven't ordered a vodka cranberry since college and just remember them being extremely tart.

Is this a good choice? Are there any simple recipes that are similar or would fit the garden theme better?

Thanks for any ideas/help!!

I've been brainstorming vodka-based signature drinks for my wedding and found one that's equal parts vodka, raspberry liqueur (website recommended Chambord, but we'd substitute with something cheaper), and either cranberry or Sprite (could go heavy on the Sprite to make it less alcoholic). This is the website I was using for ideas: https://www.thespruceeats.com/cocktails-4162707

Thank you! Everyone acts like it's easy, but I just don't want my bartender to make something everyone hates! Ya know?

I love a signature cocktail that I wouldn’t think to order at the bar — I might go up and order a vodka cran (maybe with seltzer but def not with sprite, too sweet for me!), which is what deters me the most from that idea.

Pink lemonade and grapefruit are 2 good pink mixers. Plus another fruit/veg or even just a lime for garnish will make it plenty garden-y for me…though I do love cucumber and or mint in a cocktail and those go great with vodka 🤣.
A blueberry mojito ?? Once the blueberries are muddled they get kinda pinkish/purple-y…mint and blueberries both come from the garden !
Also the last wedding I went to recently , lemon drops were super popular , maybe there’s some version or play on that that could be make with pink lemonade ?

Sorry, mojitos are usually made with rum— but they can totally still be tasty with vodka ! It’s not quite traditional but I make vodka mojitos myself as I can be a little sensitive to rum sometimes …. But maybe it’s better to call it “mojito-like” 🤣

Vodka and pink lemonade with a pink sugar - coated lemon wedge.. my fave summer drink! Sometimes I'll put a splash of sprite in if I'm feeling carbonated

I love these suggestions! A friend also suggested gin, tonic, and grapefruit. Has anyone had that? It also sounds refreshing!

Exactly what I was thinking! I love gin
Also if not opposed to specific liquor ketel one has botanicals line which is honestly my fav. They have 3 vodkas and they all go great w seltzer - peach blossom, cucumber mint, rose grapefruit.. I think those r the 3. Check them out!!!

Moscow mules are really in right now - you can make it into a Garden Mule by adding some muddle fruits (blackberries, raspberries, strawberries) into a standard mule (ginger beer, vodka, lime juice).

The grapefruit w/ gin & tonic reminds me a new take on the paloma. I never had the grapefruit, gin & tonic before - but I have had a paloma and I love them.

Honestly Kelly, I think the Garden Mule may be my favorite idea so far! That sounds delicious!

I did a French 77 as my signature drink (champagne, elderflower liquor, and lemon juice), but the more standard is a French 75 (champagne, gin, and lemon juice). It's very light and great for a summer drink!

I personally love cranberry & vodka. I usually get it without the sprite though. My personal recommendation would be a Long Beach. I absolutely LOVEEEEE them. It's basically a long island iced tea but instead of a splash of coke its made with a splash of cranberry. And its pink!!!

Vodka mules are pretty refreshing. Maybe asking them to throw in some strawberries or raspberries in will make it pink.

You could do a rosé champagne or a champagne with a raspberry or strawberry in the glass. That would be pretty simple for your bartender to pour.
