Shower on Mothers Day weekend

MICHELLE, on March 4, 2016 at 11:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

My MOH asked for me to pick a date for the Bridal shower and the only date that's working out is the day before Mothers Day (5-7-16). I keep going back in forth in my head on if this is rude to have as our shower day....what do you ladies think?

Mother's Day is one day, not the weekend so at least it's not that day. I guess it would just depend if you get declines because some people go away for the weekend? Where are you located? Where I am from that's usually fishing opener so the women like to have something to do!

Our wedding date is May 7th. We picked it because it had meaning to us and it was available at our venue. After we booked we discovered it was Mother's Day weekend. Something like that never occurred to me. Anyway, I don't think it's rude.

We did my sister's baby shower the day before Mother's Day last year and no one seemed to care at all. We asked a couple of the mothers we were inviting before we set the date and they all said it wouldn't be a problem.

I'm having my shower that same day before Mother's Day! My mom lives in Indiana and I'm in Colorado. So she's excited to come out for my shower and that it is Mother's Day so we can go celebrate.

It shouldn't be a problem. My shower is the day before Easter, and I'm almost hoping less people show up haha because FMIL is in charge of planning and has already invited one too many guests.

My wedding is 5/7/16, so I might be a tiny bit biased, but IMO it's not rude at all. Maybe having it on the Sunday, ON mother's day, would be, but I'm not even sure about that. Go for it.

I don't see a problem. Mother's Day isn't a holiday that people usually travel for, so considering the shower is the day before you should be fine.

I'd definitely come if my mom was local. Otherwise, I'd probably go to see my mother that weekend...but we're pretty close.

We do weddings every year on that weekend. Both days.

In a way, I think it's kind of fun and special for your mother, and for others? Who spends an entire weekend celebrating?
