Show me your dress! Real bodies, real dresses!

This helped me, so will a good bridal store and consultant. I'm not a dress girl and went into the store with absolutely no idea what I wanted. I have found a designer I liked online, but knew the dresses wouldn't look the same on me as they did on the model.
I left it up to the consultant, showing her some things I thought I liked and then saying things I definitely didn't want (I'm naturally very busty and did not want my boobs to be the star of the show) . Took two dresses to find the "shape " I liked on me. And then I found the dress in a few after that. It was different than I had thought I would like, but it fits me and my body type perfectly. It was great.
Take it from a girl who doesn't think any dress looks good on them. Trust your consultant! Oh and don't knock a dress on the hanger. They look COMPLETELY different on. Lol

When I went dress shopping, I had a vision in my head that I'd be walking down like Cinderella in her ball gown.. so naturally I was drawn to ball gowns when searching. I think the previously posted diagram can help too because my shape definitely recommends for a ball gown as well

You can never go wrong with an A line shape dress! It highlights your good parts and camouflages your concerns! But if you’re ready to rock something more form fitting, go for it!

I recommend trying on anything you like at first no matter what the silhouette is. Then you can start whittling down what shapes you think are the most flattering and which ones you want to stay away from.

During my search I always looked for bridal gowns on real brides because it really does help.

Here is my dress. When I saw it on the hanger, I didn't think I was going to like it. Once I put it on, I just fell in love!

Here is mine! It is a Stella York 6447. I thought I wanted a fit and flare or mermaid gown with lace. Once I started trying lace dresses in that style on I didn't feel like me. I love my dress but would have never picked it from the pictures of the model below or without my bridal consultants help.
