Should We Change Our rsvp Date for Our May 23rd Wedding?

Brittnee, on March 30, 2020 at 1:07 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 6

Hi y'all!

So our invitations are about to be printed, and I'm considering pushing our RSVP due date for our guests again. Our wedding is May 23rd (we will make a postponement call at the end of April if we have to, but hoping not to have to reschedule!) I've already pushed it back from April 17th to April 24th.

With social distancing now in place until April 30th, I'm wondering if people will need until April 30th to feel safe saying "I'm in! I'm ready to come down to Florida and celebrate!" or if April 24th will be okay.

All final decisions regarding our event rentals, menu, and all details for the full weekend's events (we're having a multi-event wedding weekend; four events total) alllll of those will then have to be organized between April 30th and May 9th--which is the date I've gotten all of my vendors to agree to use as our final due date and when the event rentals order must be placed. I'll probably have to take that week off work in order to get it all done. I'd REALLY prefer to keep it at April 24th if I can.

Thoughts?

I think if you can push the rsvp date back, it would be better

    Hi there!

I am (hopefully) getting married on the same date! Smiley smile I have my RSVP date at May 1, just for a reference. I think pushing it back will be okay.

It'd be hard to agree to go to an event while social distancing is in effect. I would push it back.

I would consider have a plan B. Many May/June/July brides are postponing until later in the year!

I had the same wedding date as you. I have made the decision to reschedule entirely. That is a decision you must make with your fiance but, I would seriously consider finding a later date for your events. Your venue may let you have a Plan B date. Mine did. Then I decided to just take that date and stop worrying about it. All of my vendors were very accomodating and just switched the date. I didn't need to get anyone new which is lucky. My wedding is now in November. I have come to terms with that.

It is very likely that the social distancing deadline will get pushed past April 30th. Also, keep in mind there will be many things you may not be able to go do the weeks before your wedding that must be done (such as signing and submitting your marriage license) because those services may still be closed.

I'm really sorry, but I highly doubt that people will even be allowed, let alone willing, to travel to Florida by May 23rd. I would postpone and get a new date in place ASAP. The way things are going, a May 23rd wedding seems very unlikely...I'm so sorry
