Should i Wear My Wedding Dress for My Party/reception (a Day After My Ceremony)?

Miss P, on September 11, 2020 at 4:12 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

My ideal wedding (even before COVID-19) has always been to have a small ceremony with only close friends and family. For us, that's about 45 people. We decided to have a 'reception' the following day, which we are anticipating roughly 150-175 people at our local Country Club. I don't really like to call it a reception because we won't have a DJ or any groomsmen/bridesmaids. It will be more informal; however, we will have a buffet (cupcakes - not a cake since we will have a cake on the wedding day) and music.

SO MY QUESTION IS - Should I wear my wedding dress for my next-day party/reception? It's a beautiful dress, but I kind of think it would be weird? Is it weird if I don't wear my dress? Thoughts?

My first thought was, "Why would people want to see my dress if they weren't invited to our ceremony?" At first, I thought it was a bit rude of me, BUT I keep getting more and more people telling me to wear my dress. But UGH, I'm still torn about it, I just don't want anyone to think its weird or inconsiderate.

I don't think it's weird! I think it's a great idea. I would totally wear my dress twice if I had the opportunity. If you don't feel comfortable wearing it, you could always find a second/more informal dress to wear to the reception. Totally up to you. Otherwise, I say go for it!

I don’t think that it is weird the reception party the next day is because of your wedding! So wear your wedding dress. There is nothing wrong with wearing it more than once and I don’t think anyone will think it’s weird unless this party is very casual and you’re in a ball gown while others are wearing jeans

I think its not weird either way. If you wear it again then cool you got to wear it twice. If you wear something different then cool you get pics with 2 different looks. Its all whatever will make you the most comfortable and happy.

Wear it twice! How often do brides get to flaunt their beautiful gowns more than once? I'm all for wearing it as many times as you want, to the ceremony, to the reception, to the grocery store....

I can’t think of any reason why it would possibly be weird. You’re the bride , you can wear whatever you want!!

There’s absolutely nothing rude or inconsiderate about wearing your fancy dress to the party you’re throwing. Absolutely nothing at all. If you just don’t want to wear it, you don’t have to and that’s fine too. But don’t not do it if you want to just because you’re worried about rudeness. It’s not rude even in the slightest. Remember, everyone that’s coming is coming to celebrate YOU. They love you. They want to see you happy! So wear whatever makes you happy.
