Should I wear a colored petticoat under my dress?

Karen Black, on September 13, 2013 at 5:08 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

How much will you really see it? Its TOTALLY my personality, and great for pictures, but its REALLY expensive for a one time thing. What do you think? Attached is a pic of my dress.

I've seen pictures of that done and I like the look. But I'd only do it if it won't break the bank Smiley smile

Love your dress would you want to dye the petty coats you already have? Would that make it cheaper?

Yeah, i think it's gorgeous and pictures can really pop with it. but you're right, it's expensive. here's what i would tell you....budget out everything else and if you're able to save big on something else, then splurge and get the colored petticoat. that's what we did....we made a list on our budget and numbered them according to priority. #1s were things we couldn't/wouldn't budge on. #2s were things that we could possibly tweak. #3s were things we wanted but only if the final budget allowed. i'd suggest that you do the same. put the colored petticoat on the #3 list and go from there!

I so wanted to do that!

Are you very crafty? They are not hard to DIY!

I spent years helping my mom make little girls pageant style dresses and all you really need is the spools of tulle (even the shorter ones would work fine!) and a needle and thread and someone who can sew a straight seam to attach it to a slip!

Im doing one under my knee-length vintage dress.

you can DIY or order from a knock-off site for cheap. The cool thing is you can do it in colors too, I'm doing a bright white cuz the dress is vintage ivory

If a white petticoat costs less, what about just adding a bottom row of tulle in whatever color you want?

Your dress already has a lot going on, I'm not sure you'd need one.

How cute! My seamstress added more crinoline to my dress. It was only $40! Cheaper than buying a petticoat. I'm sure you seamstress could order any color you want. I got white, but color would have been fun.

I will have to ask the seamstress what she can do. I remember asking her and she said no...
