Hey fellow brides! I am stuck on a decision here and need some advice. My venue requires that I use an outside vendor for ceremony chairs since it will be outside. I have gotten quotes on white fold out resin chairs and it's about $2.95/chair (not incl. tax, delivery, damage, etc). The venue...

The venue provides chairs for the reception but the color drives me nuts. My mom and FMIL think i should just suck it up since they're just chairs. Another option is to get chair covers but they cost about $4.00/piece... and looks tacky. The chairs that I want are the gold chiavari chairs. I can use them for both the ceremony and the reception and it comes to $6/chair. I could put that money towards getting a great videographer or the honeymoon instead. But part of me thinks if im already required to spend money on it, why don't I spend a little more to get exactly what i want? I've attached pictures of the different types of chairs.

So...should I splurge or suck it up?

That’s actually a steal. I’m paying $6 per chair for chiavari chairs

Whoops sorry I didn’t read it all the way. I am paying the $6 per person for the chairs as well, I think it’s worth it for the look. However my parents are paying for the venue so that obviously influenced my decision

I had this same issue with our venue. The fancier looking chairs are actually a little uncomfortable and no one will notice them. We are sticking with our venues chairs and saving a little money.

Our venue has green banquet chairs that are so ugly. But it’s $5/chair for the chiavari chairs and I don’t know if I want to splurge on it either. I’d rather put it towards our bar tab! I’m going to my tasting in a few weeks and am going to make my decision once I see them again.

Videographer or honeymoon!! They are just chairs... a video of the emotion of your loved ones on your wedding day or the experience of your honeymoon will be way more memorable than the chairs. 😊

Our banquets chairs are so so ugly. They're black rimmed with brown cushions. I hate them. Even so, I will not spend an extra $5 a chair to cover them (I'm not allowed to bring my own covers or I would have gone that route).

I love chiavari chairs..but honestly..i like the first chairs you showed with your venue better. They tie in the dance floor and the valences in the windows..and make it look warm and welcoming.

Little splurges add up quickly. The chairs are details that few will notice. Jackets, purses, Shawls all cover them. It’s much easier than moving the chairs from one location to another as well (that would be a nightmare). Stuck to the basics on this one, spurge on photography, getting things off your registry after, your honeymoon- or a house!

So, as much as people say no one remembers the chairs- I disagree. Sure, they don't remember the actual chairs themselves, but they remember the feel and the vibe of the room. There is no denying that those chairs make the room feel dark and outdated. I would upgrade. But only do this if your budget really allows for it.

They have resin chairs for the ceremony site and Chivari for the reception included in our costs. What are your wedding colors? If they aren't red, I'd upgrade them personally.

Should i splurge on Chiavari chairs or suck it up? 2

This is a tough one... my opinion would be to splurge! Ultimately it doesn't matter too much. But I will say the chiavari chairs change the entire look of the space! They're so much more elegant and romantic. They have a much softer look and give a much more bridal feel. If you can afford it, I'd totally say splurge! Although you don't think it will make much different, believe it or not, those chairs will end up in a lot of photos. If you envision your wedding space with the chiavari chairs, go for it!!! I think they're much more elegant than chair covers for sure. And they would look beautiful at your ceremony space! They'd have duel purpose, so why not?!

Here's the chairs from our venue... I was lucky they're quite nice and blended well with the decor.

I have the same problem, but I am deciding to get chiavari chairs. I believe it makes such a big difference on the pictures.

Hi Molly! Congratulations on your engagement and finding a venue!

Me personally, chairs and decor were a MAJOR thing to me in our search for a venue. The white resin chairs are a great affordable add on option that you could use for both the ceremony and reception. We are using black chivari chairs for both the ceremony and reception. Do what makes you happy and will leave you stress and worry free on your big day!

I’d skip the covers, those reception chairs are totally fine. How many guests are you having? If you have to spend basically $3 for outdoor chairs anyway, I’d be inclined to pay an extra $3 per chair to get the gold look I wanted at the ceremony AND reception. I’d cut out favors or cut down on the video package to make it work because I’d want my dream decor look too.

Crap. I forgot about delivery, set-up, pick up costs! How much does that add? Before our venue changed their chairs and let us know they had farm wood tables, our rentals would have been $500 (fine) but the delivery charges were also $500 (WTF?)!

I had to make this decision as well but the chivari chairs would have been an extra $450. I was already spending $2500 on rentals and it was just too much. I honestly don’t think anyone will care plus people have told me and I think too that chivari chairs are pretty uncomfortable.

Is your reception in the evening? i feel its going to be dark anyway - will they be noticed as much? if you're wanting to save some money for the honeymoon i'd stick with the venue supplied chairs. granted the gold chairs are nice - i don't think anyone ever really looks at that.

I'd personally go for the Chiavari chairs. It's probably true that most people won't notice the chairs but I felt like if I hated my chairs, I would notice them in ALL my reception pictures. Fortunately my venue provides Chiavari, but I was willing to pay for the upgrade if we went with a different venue.
