Should i replace my already booked mua vendor?

Mercedes Hicks, on February 17, 2021 at 6:10 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 10
So, here's the scoop..

My MUA received my retainer deposit November 2020. I never received a full invoice or even a means of understanding the payment breakdown. I reached out very early February 2021 to try to better understand really what I need to do in order to not be behind on any owed payments. The platform they contact me through says I haven't paid my retainer even though I have confirmed they have received payment.
I've already attempted to reach out regarding adjustments that need to be made for my services. Nothing. Long story short, 3 emails withing 30 days and I never heard back. I took it upon myself to gather more quotes until they responded to me. Doing so, I found a MUA who offers the SAME services and quality at approximately 500 bucks cheaper.
Now, the original vendor has reached back to me. They claim my email was missed but, that's still a problem for me because they sign didn't really address my concerns besides just telling me what I originally requested. But it took weeks to get back to me?I've conflicted. Should I consider this unacceptable and breakup and move on to a cheaper MUA or continue with the original at a higher rate?

If the deposit is refundable and you like the other MUA work just as much I don’t see why not.

I would go with the other MUA. It sounds like she didn’t miss one email but three.

I would hire a different mua. Sounds too messy to deal with.

Sounds like that MUA is very unreliable so I would move on. You need someone that will be there for you.

If you're able to get your deposit back then I would definitely go with the other MUA. You don't want to deal with hard to reach vendors. Timely communication is extremely important!

As a bride, you don't need the extra stress as wedding planning is filled with it. So, I recommend getting your deposit back and booking another MUA. Like others have said before me, the key to everything is COMMUNICATION!!

Honestly unless your deposit was more than $500 and is non-refundable I would go with the other artist.

As a vendor you're taught to get back to a client within 1-3 days (barring a vacation, and then you should have an out of office on). If you can't do that you're not in the right business. So, def. Contract with that other artist, but make sure you get your cancellation with your current one in writing so there's no doubt you won't owe any more money to them.
