Should I go to a Bridal Expo alone?

Annie, on January 13, 2017 at 5:57 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 16

Hey guys, so my husband and I are in the very early beginning stages of planning our 2018 vow renewal. We are doing the ceremony out of state but I want to go to a couple of bridal expos coming up where we live to get more inspiration, ideas, a dress and accessories.

My husband works on Saturdays and can't take off. My MOH, bridesmaids and family that I would want to come with me are all back home where the ceremony and everything will be.

I have asked a friend or two if they wanted to go but one of them isn't ready to start looking at wedding stuff and the other will be away. I really don't want to go alone because I'm self conscious as it is in crowds but I don't want to miss out either.

I don't have many close friends here and none that are engaged either so feeling stuck.

Personally I don't think it will give you too much inspiration but it might give you a good starting price point for some services. Oh and free cake. That was my favorite part

I say go. Make friends with another group while you're there and enjoy the free stuff.

You should go! It's nice to be able to meet a bunch of different vendors all in one place, and there's usually give away/free stuff too

I was going to take my mom to a bridal show with me, and when she had to cancel, I did too because I didn't want to go alone. Totally regret missing out on free food & the experience. Definitely go!

I say go, but be prepared with a mental list of what you're looking for - that way it won't be so overwhelming by yourself! It could be a great opportunity for you to just gather information that you can share with your FH and family afterwards!

I think bridal shows are a waste of time. Its just a bunch of people trying to get you to spend money. I think you do better sitting at home and using the internet to do research.

I rather go then sit at home wondering what I'm missing - Miami. I've been to one before for my future cousin in law. The ticket is a 2 for 1 admission too..

Honestly I went to 1 small one and hated it Kind of high pressure sales tactics. Do not give them your cell number or primary email address. You will get buttload of calls and emails. It annoyed the crap out of me. I had wedding and job stress (50-60hrs a week), along with a very sick father while planning. I did not have the time or energy to deal with the calls and emails. I got most of my ideas online. Did a lot of my research at the hospital sitting in Dads room or waiting room at times. I picked the vendors I thought would be the best match and went to 1 venue for ceremony and 1 for reception, 2 video and 2 photographers. 1 DJ. and done

I went to a small wedding show alone a few months ago. I hired my day of coordinator and florist from that wedding show!

Tomorrow I'm going to go to a huge wedding show with my MOH. I'm looking for makeup, harpist, decor and alcohol, etc. This show has hundreds of vendors. If my MOH wasn't available tomorrow I still would have gone alone.

The people you go with don't have to be engaged just ask anyone to come so you won't be alone

I think you should go and have someone with you. You will get alot of information. However do not feel pressure to commit. If you know what your goals ex vendor site that is what you focus on. Because it can be overwhelming, you get their numbers instead of giving everyone yours.

I would go alone. You get to spend more time with the vendors and cruise around how you like and leave when you're ready

Go! I just won a free full make-up artist appointment, a blowout, and a makeup bag! It's was worth that alone.
