Should i get an outer enevelope ?

Micah, on May 17, 2019 at 3:43 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 5
On a whim I bought black enevelopes with but the intention of using them with white ink to address and send them out for my invitations only to then remember the tons of articles I read about not using dark enevelopes. So long stort short should I splurge and get the outer enevelope just in case or take the chance of them getting lost in the mail. Im using wax seals as well and from what I've read they can get caught in the machines so thats also another factor to consider. If yall think I should get the outer enevelope what are yalls in store suggestions on where to buy them.

What was the reason they put for not using dark envelopes?

If you’re planning on printing with white ink, I found that they tend to be more expensive. Lots of people hear buy a stamp with their address and stamp on the address with metallic ink and that’s worked well for them. If you don’t mind labels, that’s another way you want work with dark envelopes. I have dark blue envelopes and plan on getting a stamp for our address, then using a label for guest address because I’m too lazy to hand write all the addresses with metallic pens.

I think youll be fine with dark envelopes. Save your money and go with what you got. Otherwise, what are you going to do with them?

I would definitely still use them in the suite i have a cricut to address my envelopes for me with a white gel pen i would just use the outer enevelope to protect the wax seal and ive read that if you use dark enevelopes that if the envelopes need to be stamped to go longer distances the stamp wont be visible

I would definitely do an outer envelope. Wax seals definitely can get ripped off and in turn rip the envelope and expose the invite to being damaged. You can probably find envelopes from Amazon in the size you need. I almost bought envelopes from Minted that were pre-addressed so I wouldn't have to write the addresses and they'd look way more elegant but I ended up doing the all-in-one Minted invites which solved that problem.

With wax seals AND a dark envelope, I would definitely use a white outer envelope. There's just too much that could go wrong if you don't.
