Should i allow guest to seat themselves or set seats?

So planning a wedding is hard enough, finding out where to seat everyone is harder. We just finished our attending guest list, 98 guest, and had to find a place to seat everyone, also done (maybe). My tables are larger than I wanted but that's okay, as long as people are happy. I'm now second guessing my tables though so I'm wondering if I should just arrange the kids and parents tables and let everyone seat themselves. What are you doing for seating?

If you're going to assign seats/tables for anyone other than the bridal party and immediate family, you should probably just go ahead and do everyone.

You don’t have to assign seats, but tables would be recommended. You can’t do it for some guests and leave the others to fend for themselves.

I think you should assign tables. Unassigned seating at nearly 100 people will get awkward fast.

We are having it at a beach house as we are having a beach wedding so I got enough tables and chairs for 40 of the 60 guests and 4 cocktail tables as well. So the guests pick where they want to sit or stand. It's easier for a smaller wedding but I am not a fan of seating charts as it adds more stress.

It is but let’s say a group of 5 comes in and there is no table left with 5 seats.

We are having it at a beach house so there will be PLENTY of seating. They can even eat on the 3 decks of the house overlooking the ocean if they wanted to.

Im doing a seating chart which is hard for 180 people, and its easier to let people decide. However, I prefer to be organized and have everything set so people are lingering around looking for seats

Seating yourselves is usually just intended for the ceremony ("Pick a seat, not a side.")
