Should bridesmaid dresses be the same?

Hello! I am just curious to hear others' thoughts on having same or different bridesmaid dresses. I want everyone to feel comfortable but at the same time I'm not sure if it'd look weird if they are different in pictures.

My girls gets to pick their own style because they have very different body types and I want everyone to feel comfortable. However everyone has to have a long dress from DB in champagne color.

The only requirement I gave them is that it be the same color. Two of them (I have 3) ended up picking the same dress though.

Was literally just about to post this..glad I saw yours! May be the UO but I am also planning to do a cohesive mismatched look! I've been in so many weddings where I've hated the way I looked (it was the bride's day, so no big deal), but I don't want my girls to feel that way on my day! Pictures are forever and everyone deserves to feel good!

I have four in my bridal party and two are wearing one dress and the other two are wearing another. The dresses are the same material, length, color, and style. One dress has cap sleeves and the other has one strap.

Because mine have different tastes, and budget they are choosing their dresses. I just gave them a color from David´s Bridal, a lenght, and to avoid satin (I thought it would clash too much if the other ones chose mesh or chiffon).

My girls mismatch but will all be in the same color. I have two NFL cheerleaders, a Disney World princess, a vet school student, and a preschool teacher who I expect will be pretty pregnant. Obviously the cheerleaders and the princess are in excellent shape, my other two are curvy so I want them to be comfortable and confident in whatever they wear!

I told them they can pick any dress in the rose gold lace color at DB. So same color but each girl will have a different dress

It depends on your bridesmaids. My bridesmaids are all different sizes and weren't comfortable in all the same styles. As long as you get dresses that compliment each other it's fine. This is what my bridesmaids are wearing

Mine are all the same but I've been to a lot of weddings that do the mismatched. IMOP it looks best if the dresses are either all the same colors and lengths but different styles or if they are all the same length and style but different colors

I'm having my girls pick their own dress! I'm just giving them a color scheme (blush, tan, gold) and length to stick too! I want them to feel comfortable and actually like the dress they are wearing. Also, I'm not certain on what they can afford, so I don't want them buying a dress that's going to break the bank for them. Either way, I think matching or mismatched dresses all look great Smiley smile

Everyone has different opinions on this, I personally let my BM's chose theirs so that they were comfortable in what they were buying and wearing. We all went shopping together and decided on a couple of designers whose colors were fairly close. I chose burgundy for their dresses and while the colors are not exact, the color variations compliment each other. All of my girls decided to go with long dresses but their materials are different (some have tulle, one has sequins, others have lace). I loved that they each chose something that they are comfortable with, may wear again, and compliments their own taste and personality.

I'm not worrying about any real uniformity. The guidelines I gave them are: stay under 150, look/feel awesome, and be black/grey/purple. I want them to have something they'll wear again. They all have such varying styles. Two of them absolutely HATE wearing dresses, two are hardcore fashionistas, and the other one is more of a organic flower-child. Lol, it'll be just fine Smiley smile

I wanted long and plum purple for my girls. I went into the store ahead of time to scope out what came in that color and length in budget. I picked out 4 dresses in budget and met the description of plum purple and long and let me girls pick from those which one they liked best.
