Sew In on THIN hair or Clip Ins?

Anyone have experience getting a sew-in with THIN fine hair?! I met with a stylist and she said it was totally do-able. I have been reading reviews and it has really been scaring me! Has anyone had this done versus clip ins? I do have Bellami Clip Ins but they're much too long and I find them hard...

Has anyone had this done versus clip ins? I do have Bellami Clip Ins but they're much too long and I find them hard to hide the tracks with my thin hair. EEk. idk if I am just freaking myself out but since my wedding is states away from where I'm getting my hair done two weeks before my wedding, I am worried Smiley sad

EDIT: If you got clip ins where did you purchase them from? And any photos posted would be awesome ! thank ya'll!

I have shoulder length fine hair.. I have Luxy extensions and they're 120g which matches my hair texture perfectly. Highly recommend them for every day use or special occasions, however I won't be using them for the wedding.

I had my hair trial this weekend and we used the clip ins, it looked great, but my hair was far too fine to support the weight of the clip ins in an up do. It had fallen out within 3 hours. and was SUPER uncomfortable and I felt like the whole thing was just going to fall out of my head every time I moved!! I rescheduled my trial and my hair dresser has gotten some different hair pieces to try. If that doesn't work I'll be going with either tape in or the klix extensions.

First of all, you're beautiful and just flipping out (completely normal). I'm doing the same and it's stressful wanting to be at your absolute best on one of the most important days. I agree with @Cann though. Get a sew in but make sure you hire someone that knows exactly what they're doing and buy quality hair. I cut all my hair completely off over a year ago and have been wearing protective styles (sew ins, wigs, cbraids) recently as it grows out and goes through that awkward stage. Here's a recent pic of extensions

@Wifey They're long wefts like clip-ins that have a small little bead/eyelet type thing that they pull a small strand of hair through and tighten it down. here's the link!

@Vicotoria - what are you pros for a sew-in ? Do you find them harder to manage than clip ins? Im afraid clip ins may slip out of my hair

I feel like to be on the safe side do a sew in. They can braid in hair in the area where there isn't a strong foundation. Like the others mentioned it's versatile. And also you won't worry about your clips falling out . I usually wear a wig but i just got a sew in for my wedding. This is my hair now.

^Not true! I wore sew ins, clips in, hair pieces and braids and my hair was short in the photo above and is now to my shoulders!

It helped me grow out and strengthen my hair. (In one year) This is why I said it depends on who was doing it. You mentioned a reality show getting their hair done there so it's safe to say they're professionals lol!!

@Wifey The cons for me was that there is a bigger possibility that the sew ins will destroy my fine hair and then I would be stuck with damaged hair and no other option but sew ins or wigs. They are also more expensive and I didn't trust anyone to do the job correctly. The upkeep is significantly less with clip ins as well. You dont have to worry about the braids and they only need to be washed every 15-20 wears depending on how you style them and what product you use in them.

With clip ins there are ways that your stylist can clip them to make sure they dont slip. There are also plenty of products out there that they can use as well. When I put my extensions in after washing my hair I spray my hair with dry shampoo and work that into the scalp to give my hair a bit of texture and added volume. I have never had an issue with them slipping or falling out when I do this. You can also tease the base of your hair where the clip will be so that is has a little something extra to hold on to.

As far as getting them to blend in I clip in my extensions and straighten or curl them as I add each new layer. This help get each layer to blend a bit better at least for me.

ETA: I know that they do not destroy fine hair but I could not find a reputable salon to install them in my area so I did not want to chance it.

It's not true that they will destroy your hair as long as you get a PROFESSIONAL to install them. Any random person can destroy your hair whether that's just cutting it, dying it, styling it, etc. if they don't know what they are doing. Also, you can have them installed and taken out shortly after the wedding if you're really concerned about it causing damage to your hair. For me, protective styles have actually helped my hair natural hair grow.

Yeah the women that is doing my hair does the hair for a reality TV show and she apparently is usually very hard to get in to. The only way I got an appointment was by knowing someone. I guess I am just worried because my hair is SO thin and fine and growing it out isnt an option (it has grown 2 inches in two years- insane!)

thank you EVERYONE who has commented and given me advice. If anyone knows of a place in DFW that I can get a second opinion at too with my hair that'd be awesome.

For those saying to do the sew in (which i am leaning towards) would you recommend that I do a deep condition prior to my appointment or do you recommend that I do not wash it for a day so the hair does not slip?

    THANK YOU ALL
