September brides- to postpone or not to post pone

Kelly, on May 1, 2020 at 10:40 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 8

I am getting married September 19, 2020. I know we still have some time to decide on what to do as far as postponing but I wanted to see what others were thinking. We have decided that if we do have to postpone, we are still doing our ceremony on our original date and will have our "reception" at a later date. We were thinking of deciding around the time we would need to send our invitations out if we should postpone or not. Just curious what others were thinking or if there were any suggestions. Thank you!

Depends on where you live. Each state is different. For example, I live in PA and we’re opening in phases. Red, yellow, green. Is your state doing something similar? I’m not getting married until December so I’m holding off making any decisions. There’s still 4 months to go until September. I would hold off as long as you can!!😊

We’re Planning As Normal With No Intent On Canceling Or Postponing As Of Right Now. Too Soon To Decide .

My bff is getting married same day and she told me she is continuing on. she did look at what her options are if she did need to postpone though. but she said at the end of the day if the people she wants most can be there then she will go through with it

October bride here! I'm also still planning as normally, just riding it out and staying hopeful. Before covid I wanted a small intimate wedding of about 40 people, so I'm hoping I can still have it! I live in California and the state is also opening in phases. I'm just worried we may still have to practice physical distancing, ie. staying 6ft apart,... and what that would look like for a wedding? 🤔

    Hi Kelly,

I'm sorry you're having to think about postponing your September wedding on top of planning your big day. eyFYBiGtFgC4Ag-LxBWWMP5UvJmt7cCKk6ZuRGas

I agree with the recommendations above. While this is definitely an uncertain time, it seems like plenty of September couples are waiting to make postponement decisions. Of course, everyone's situation is different, so it never hurts to be proactive about plan B!

You also aren't alone right now! ❤️

I am a September 4th bride getting married in Southern CA. We only invited 50 guests but half are coming from New York and New Jersey. We are concerned that is won’t be safe yet for our families to fly. I also think we may have to wear masks and practice social distancing for a while. We are going to decide in June but starting to really lean towards postponing until spring or maybe even a full year until September of next year! Such a tough decision. Everything is done except invitations. Waiting to decide now....

Hi! So our wedding was suppose to be sept 6 2020..the reception and muslim ceremony. Since covid we are going to re schedule it. At least that’s the plan if the venue works with us. So many people we know are infected and it just won’t be smart. Plus we live in Nj so it’s really bad out here. It’s all so stressful at this point. The venue said they Weill let us know by mid May what our options are but I just feel like they should work with us. All this is making me stress out honestly, I just pray it works out. In a perfect world I want the new date to be next summer but I don’t even know if the venue will be okay with that. We wanted to have 100 guest, I don’t see that happening with covid being so bad in Nj..we can’t even go to the park without seeing police officers reminding us about social distancing ..

I think you are doing the right thing. I live in jersey and it’s bad out here in regards to covid. Push the wedding date ..we are trying to do the same. Just praying the venue works with us
