September brides- planning

Cynthia, on March 31, 2020 at 11:59 PM Posted in Community Conversations 2 30
Hi Fall brides,

My wedding is September 26th, 2020. I am hopeful that our wedding will not be postponed. Right now I am feeling anxious with the planning process. We still need to get our cake, bridesmaid dresses, figure out hair & makeup, and more. But those few I listed are ones weighing on my now. How are you all navigating planning with all the closures?

The only thing I'm worried about is the bridesmaids dresses being here and altered in time with COVID. We're having our reception in September before our DW in Jamaica. My sister ordered her bridesmaid dress last week from DB and it won't be here until the end of July at the earliest which won't leave a lot of time for alterations before 9/19/20. We chose all of our vendors last year and have been making payments. The bridesmaids dresses are groomsmen attire is the only thing left.

Maybe Try To Focus On Getting The Most Important Things Out Of The Way First (If Possible). Maybe Try Emailing Some Places Instead Of Calling . Good Luck Smiley heart

It's going ok. We are ahead of where we need to be. I contacted Men's Wearhouse yesterday about extending the deadline for getting the guys measured for tuxes. They were super easy to work with. I asked for a 2 week extension so they have to be measured by the beginning of July instead of June 12th. That will be helpful. My bridesmaid and MOH ordered their dresses from Azazie at the beginning of March and are scheduled to arrive in May. The 2 things stressing me out are wondering if I need to move my shower that is scheduled for June 6th and my wedding coordinator was laid off at our venue temporarily; so now I'm wondering who I contact if I have questions in the next month. I have faith that we will be able to have the wedding we want to have by September. I know things will start to get better, but I'm just ready for that to happen.

Hi Kelsey, thank you for sharing. I am in the same boat in regards to wedding celebration. Originally I planned to go to NYC in June for my bachelorette and a bridal shower with my fiancé’s family July 4th weekend. It is hard to think possibly missing out on all these bridal experiences.

Thank you, Trisha. I think I will follow up via email and the website. Right now I’ve contacted them through the apps but I might go directly to the sites.

This encourages me to call DB regarding timeline. We hadn’t picked the BM dresses yet, and with the closures I am nervous about the timeline.

My date is 9/12/20 and we're planning to make a decision about cancelling/postponing the wedding by June. We still have to find a caterer, pick tuxes, etc. but none of that really seems important right now given all that's going on in the world, so I've just put it on hold. I've read other threads like this and have seen that some are still planning to have weddings in May or June, I think it's crazy. A wedding is not worth risking lives over.

I feel the same as you. My wedding is Sept. 26th and I have hope that we will still get to have our wedding on that day. It's just planning blockers and wondering if I will be able to do pre-wedding events like my bachelorette and wedding shower this summer that is stressing me out. Luckily, we have already hired all of our vendors, but I worry about being able to order flowers and rent decor if everything is going to be closed this summer.

I think businesses will re-open there may be a limit to how many people can be in a store. Either way businesses won't survive if they are closed too long if they remained closed for such a long time (not trying to be negative or anything). I really want to have all the bridal moments with a shower and bachelorette; it makes me sad to think I might not. But I'm very hopeful that things will get back to normal eventually and we can have those events like we want. Every bride wants those moments and I know deserve might not be the right word, but deserves to have their moment for those things too.

I'm looking up independent businesses that may be able to do alterations just in case DB is not able to in a timely manner.

I am so happy that you are feeling the same, but sad that we are experiencing this. I am hopeful as well but know how important the closures are right now. I think we need to be creative and switch up timelines with the planning process.

We are date twins! My fiancé and I are optimistic as well. I feel like so many of us are in the waiting game. I know many things will be cancelled but hopeful that it can be reschedule closer to the date. Let’s cross our fingers!

Oh wow, it is hard to believe folks are still planning weddings during the month. I assume it depends where they are living and if they are scrapping the large party. I would be too nervous to risk it. I definitely feel for the brides right now. I feel like a weird limbo of just waiting to keep planning and a sense of urgency with vendors being booked. I feel like after this week, I may take a “chill pill” in regards to planning.

Oh gosh, that sounds hard not to have your wedding planner. It seems like many of the wedding sites have set up support, so that may be place to reach out to. I think I’ll follow your lead with reaching out to places regarding timelines.

It makes me sad to think about that as well. All of my close friends are already married and I've been with them through all of their wedding and pre-wedding events and I just want to be able to experience that too. We already had to cancel my bachelorette.. it was supposed to be the weekend of May 1 in New York City. We were doing it early to try and avoid the summer heat in the city, but looks like that's not happening. I'm just hoping we will be able to go at some point before the wedding.

Same here. I'm figuring my shower will need to be re-scheduled, it's scheduled for June 6th. Maybe it will happen, I just don't know yet. And July is super busy for my family; will maybe it won't be since they are supposed to go on vacation and knows with this. But that will probably be ok to do by then I would think. I am confident us September brides should be able to have the weddings we have been planning, but the pre-wedding things may not happen. I know we are lucky if that is the case where we won't have to postpone like so many other brides, but it still sucks.

I agree! I feel like everything will have to happen in August and early September for me, if I want to have the pre-wedding celebration. I hope you can find another time, if your Shower is rescheduled.

Hey Wedding twin. I'm getting married in JA 9/26 and I'm not stressing yet. In my heart of hearts I'm praying and hoping that Covid will be gone by then and the world will re-open.
