sept 2020 brides in california

To all the brides concerned about being affected by COVID-19 in CA.. Just wondering what everyone is doing or everyone’s thoughts on where we stand for our planned weddings in September? Mine is on 09/19/20 in Sacramento and although, I’m still optimistic that we’ll be okay to gather by then (doubting we’ll be in shelter passed June), i still have my moments where i get worried.

Where does everyone stand?!

We're in July and are still planning on sending out our invites next week. We're hoping for the best. It's still too far out for our venue to require us to postpone, so at this rate, I'm planning as normal. Cautiously optimistic is where I'm currently sitting; I suppose we'll see how we feel after Newsom's releases his possible timeline on Wednesday.

    Hi Leeann,

I agree with the recommendation above. While this is definitely an uncertain time, it seems like plenty of September couples are waiting to make postponement decisions. Of course, everyone's situation is different, so it never hurts to be proactive about plan B!

You also aren't alone right now! ❤️

There are many resources on our website to help you navigate the serious decision to postpone your wedding: Our COVID-19 Weddings Advice Guide.

    Hope this helps!

My daughter's wedding was originally June 20 in Bay Area and we rescheduled to August. At this point, we are moving forward with plans and all vendors are onboard. However, it is an outdoor ceremony and reception so that might help some. We are willing to scale down to 50 guests if it has to be at that point.

    Hi Ladies,

We have a wedding in September in Yosemite and I dont mean to sound like an alarmist but I do not see social distancing requirements being relaxed by summer, especially with the uncertainty of a resurgence of the virus. I'm not entirely sure how a 6ft wedding celebration will look -- dinner, dancefloor, even the ceremony. We have been trying to get in touch with our venue but most of the workers have been furloughed--we have no clarity on the situation. No idea if we will be asked to scale down the guest list (that doesnt seem fair based on the contract that we signed) or if we will even have the option to cancel.

For what it's worth, we have not sent out our wedding invites just yet, but we plan on sending a note to everyone in the meantime as we try and navigate the situation and get answers. Luckily, we opted for e-invites (our choice to be more eco-friendly with paper goods) so we already had everyone's email addresses to begin with.

Whatever happens, hopefully we all have our health and our family's health. Best to all the COVID brides (is that a thing?) out there.

Hey girl! Congrats first off! We are getting Married in Lincoln. Our date is 8/28, So I feel you! We are planning on having our wedding on that day no matter or how small the turn out is! We decided on downsizing our guest list to 50 for our Plan B since I don't think they will alow big groups by then. We were planning on having a small wedding anyways, like 80-90 people. Feeling hopeful! We are meeting with our Veunue Coordinater the end of this month so that gives us more hope! Such a bummer we all have to go thru this but at the same time try and focus on the postive! You will be Marrying the love of your life!! That is how I am trying to see it ❤❤

My fiancé and I were supposed to be married on September 25, 2020 at Nestldown. However, her family would need to fly into CA and her parents, aunts, and uncles are in their 70s. We did not want to jeopardize their health nor could we imagine a wedding without them. So we contacted Nestldown to ask for rescheduling in April. But they told us that they would not talk to us about it until July. JULY!

Then we saw a thread on WeddingWire about Nestldown and how they are penalizing 90 couples who wanted to reschedule. So we asked Nestldown to not make us wait if they are going to make us choose between cancelling the contract (they keep deposit), rescheduling to a Monday to Wednesday date in 2021 (no cost), or paying additional 40% cost for rescheduling to a Thursday to Sunday ($5600-$10000) in 2021. Nestldown then gave us the options and told us to wait until July before they would talk with us about it. The problem is, that gave us only a few weeks to decide before we had to contractually pay the remaining 50% cost for our day. So we contacted ABC about it and then Nestldown replied to the thread about a 4th option which would let couples "wait and see," up until 2 days before their scheduled wedding dates before they needed to pay the remaining balance.

Since then, Nestldown had forced @WeddingWire to remove that thread. Diminishing the opportunity for affected couples to come together and seek legal or public help.

My fiancé and I are now just stuck. We continue wanting Nestldown to change our date without penalizing us for a pandemic. We cannot give our vendors a new date until Nestldown reschedules our current. This pandemic is stressful. Nestldown's effort to penalize couples during the pandemic is heartbreaking.

I’m getting married in Sacramento, CA on 09/19/20. Luckily Sacramento is moving a lot quicker than anywhere else. Our venue reached out to us last weekend stating they are moving forward with weddings August and on, so we’re lucky! It’s also because our ceremony is outside and reception in a tent. We may have to group the seating chart tables of 8 with people from the same homes and the non-family members may have to sit in tables of 4. They are willing to open walls of the tent to allow the spacing if needed. Venue says right now Sacramento is allowing gatherings up to 100.. We are expecting about 150 people. But the venue is so cool about it saying that by the time it hits our time the gathering number should increase. And if not, the only way we’ll get caught is if authorities are really going around monitoring and counting heads. But with our wedding outside that helps a lot. They said we may pass our masks if we want.. which we might since we have a few seniors attending. Things are moving in different paces everywhere so fingers crossed for everybody! Hope everyone the best!
