Sending invitations to Poland

Susana A, on January 28, 2017 at 9:10 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

So FH is from Poland, and I have to send 15 invitations there.

FMIL gave me all the addresses and the names, I know it's a stupid question, but idk how to send them there? Do I just put a stamp and just drop them to the post office? Do I pay?

I asked FH and he said he never sent anything there so he has no idea how it works.

If you guys have any advice I would appreciate it Smiley smile

I had to send one to Australia. Not a big deal, just go to your post office and tell them you have international mail. If I remember correctly they are the same stamps internationally (like no matter where it goes internationally it'll be the same stamp. Not the same stamp as in the same as in states lol) they do cost more though but if I remember correctly it wasn't too bad.

You have to buy an international stamp, not a US. stamp.

I sent one to Scotland and put it in the mail with the rest of them without thinking...regular forever stamp and everything...they called about a week and a half later to let us know they got it.

And don't stamp the return RSVPs, since your stamps won't work on their post Smiley smile

We had invitations sent to Canada, Brazil, Austria, Korea, and Dubai. They all required the same international stamp. We took a completed invitation (RSVP minus the stamp since they all need different stamps to return to us) to the post office and had it weighed.

They all got there, and we've had quite a few guests respond via text with a picture of the card to make sure we got it back.

Do the guests speak English or did you need a translated invitation too?

Go to the post office and tell them where they are going and they will put an international stamp on them for the right amount. I had invites sent to Germany and Belgium. To make sure they get there go to the post office and talk to the person or do it yourself at one of the machines there.

You don't need an international stamp, you just need the equivalent cost in US stamps for getting it to Poland. Ask the post office. And on the RSVPs, you can use Polish stamp equivalents (as many needed for an international return) if your FMIL has some.
