Sending bills to no-show guests?

Courtney CtoS, on September 30, 2015 at 5:56 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

We all hate no-shows, but would you really go as far as to actually send them a bill for meals they "RSVPed [sic]" for?

I totally understand how frustrating it would be if people don't show up and RSVP yes, but to bill the no shows....? Now that's just crazy!

I would be way too embarrassed to send someone a bill for a no-show. That's just greedy.

The invite told her no kids, so it's not like she could have just brought them along. I wouldn't want someone calling me the morning of my wedding to let me know they weren't coming either. I don't need the additional stress. No thank you! As a bride, she should have known that there are people who will RSVP and not show up. Is it frustrating? Of course it is, but she should have put on her big girl panties and accepted that there were other issues. I'm sure the Bride would have been even more pissed if she had shown up WITH her kids. Probably would've sent her a bill for that too.

Well, what she SHOULD have done is called the bride and/or groom and explained how regretfully, their babysitter canceled on them at the last minute and now they wouldn't be able to attend. In this case, that is a reasonable excuse. What they should NOT have done is just not shown up, with no explanation! It also sounds like she didn't bother to send a gift/card which I would ASSUME she would bring to the wedding, so no excuse not to mail it. If someone no called/no showed for my wedding AB-SO-LUTELY I would call them and ask for a reason. But to go as far as bill someone? No lol....I don't match rudeness with rudeness!
