Send off ideas

Shaelon, on April 25, 2022 at 12:20 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 8
Me and my fiancé have been talking over what should be the proper send off for us at the end of the night. Letting off fire works, smoke bombs, bubbles, etc. i saw a lot of videos on couples who have done the lanterns and I thought that would be very cute everyone can write a message on a few and we can let them go has anyone done this? And if so is it safe for the environment?

Ours will be pretty late at night, so if we do a send-off we're probably going to use sparklers. Be careful with fireworks, lanterns, and smoke bombs so they don't catch anything on fire. Probably not the "bang" you want to end the night on lol.

Personally, I’d recommend sticking to things that won’t cause any fires or problems- fireworks, lanterns or the like, during fire season in a high risk city/state is a sure way to end up with a lawsuit of total damages. Sparklers are good because they can burn out quicker and it’s something you physically hold. Bubbles is also a cute idea! Traditionally rice is thrown, but you can easily switch this to bird seed, dried lavender, or dissolving confetti!

I love the idea of the look of lanterns but i don't know about sending them off. i think you could always have lanterns for people to keep and they just hold them as you walk out

We did a large group photo at the end, at the DJ's suggestion. It was a blast! Simple and there was no additional cost or logistical concerns for sparklers, bubbles, etc.

Another idea would be a candlelight send off. You'd just get a bunch of the skinny handheld candles they use in church, wax guards, and some lighters. A bit more controlled than sparklers.
