Semi-formal outdoor wedding?

Kiley, on March 21, 2018 at 3:39 PM Posted in Planning 0 12
So FH and I aren't really seeing eye to on where we want to get married at. We have picked our venue but they have 2 different ceremony options. I want to get married outside because I think it would be super romantic and think it's cool to get married at sunset

. My FH on the other hand thinks that you can't have a "formal" wedding outside. I say "formal" because it's really going to be semi-formal suits not tuxes and cocktail dresses. He would rather we get married inside because he feels like that would be more fitting with the dress code.

For reference we are getting married at 530-6pm and it's in feburay in southern Texas. I am also attaching pictures of both options. Which do you think would be better?

I like the outside option. You can use decor to make it more formal. The doors and chalkboards give it a more rustic vibe but you can change that.

When does the sun begin to set? That’s the only concern I’d have with the outdoor ceremony in February. The outdoor option is beautiful though so I would choose that over being indoors.

Personally, I LOVE the outdoors- just not usually for a wedding. The weather is always testy and I get bit up a lot but it’s a wedding so I don’t want to smell like bug spray. Lol but that’s personal preference, I like #2

I looked to see what time it sets at. It's 6 exactly for our date. If we end up outside it will be at 530p

I absolutely love your venue - beautiful inside and out! Frankly, your venue isn't super formal so I don't think inside or outside is more or less formal than the other. To be honest, unless the weather is perfect (not too hot, not too cold, not too sunny, no wind), I prefer as a guest to be indoors. It's just a lot more controlled. Could you compromise and take pictures outside but get married inside?

I’ll be the opposite sorry- I love outdoors, but that inside is gorgeous 😭😭😭 so soft and romatic and no wind or bugs

Outside, for sure! Does it have a backup option for bad weather?

I guess I should add that, if we plan to get married outside and the weather is awful we can always switch it to the inside pictures. Also, if we get married inside there is a giant tent with walls that is outside for the reception. If we get married outside the whole reception would be inside. We have the ability to make it whatever we want as far what we want inside or outside.

I say if you can do it outside, do it outside! We are getting married late October in NJ and are praying the weather is warm enough to do the ceremony outside.

I like outside but its good to know there is an inside option. Weather here in LA is either sunshine/or rain in February.

February in Texas? Outdoors? That is quite the gamble. I think it would be gorgeous, but the weather here is insane.

I like outside option 2 with the gazebo. I think that’s beautiful!
