Selfie sticks or Photo booth

This is my 3rd post of the day so don't stone me haha!

Would you prefer a selfie stick as a favor (appropriate for my guests) or a photo booth?

I've attended many weddings that had photo booths, but only one that gave all their guests selfie sticks. We probably took thousands of pics all over the wedding with everyone, and posted them immediately with their hashtag. I personally loved it. I do love the booths also, but I never know where my strips are afterwards.

Thoughts?

I want to add that now I love this idea and we are totally doing it. I would rather spend the photo booth money on a videographer Smiley smile

Yep I just confirmed they have the aux cord at Five Below. Most people use their timer on their phones though.

FWW, I bought this one for our selfie station/DIY photo booth/whatever you want to call it and I love it. I find selfie sticks amusing because they're so ridiculous. It doesn't need bluetooth pairing, which I was afraid would give some people trouble, fits different size phones, and doesn't need batteries. It works fantastically. It also appears to be about $3 cheaper than when I bought it and has free shipping. Can't beat that!

@MrsBrinkleyToBe Lol I am so doing it. We would actually save $200 by cutting the booth!

Photo booth. I don't know if you have a wedding photographer planned, but I would hate to have to work around a bunch of selfie sticks sticking out, unless it's intentional for the photo. Nor, as a bride, would I enjoy having pictures of guests with selfie sticks during the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, dance floor, etc. But that's just me. As Mrs. Pope said, it depends on your crowd.

It was Ashley. And it was packed the whole time I saw it.

Go vendor free; I won't take it personally.

Sounds like you'd prefer the selfie stick so go that route. On the topic of photobooths being over done. Keep in mind most people aren't attending weddings on a regular basis so they're not as immersed in wedding trends like we are.

If you can afford it, photo booth. We had one, and people did NOT spend all their time there at the expense of dancing or mingling. The photos were a great way to augment our formal photos, and the coolest part was how many parents and teens did them together... That was one of my favorite things. Maybe it was just our group, but i can't imagine getting anything similar with a selfie sick.

@Celia i didn't realize there were "themed" photo booths that would be so fun! but my friends really like the selfie sticks when they have been drinking lol, i have seen a lot of the instant photo cameras lately, those are good alternative! the last adding i went to people LOVED it.although i think they are $200, photo b oohs around here are around $5-600

I'm sorry but I actually completely agree with Celia, I really don't like selfie sticks because I don't like selfies in general (for the same reasons as Celia mentioned). I'll take a selfie occasionally if I'm feeling trendy or there really is no other way to get a picture of something cool...but otherwise it's just not necessary to me. I'd rather have fun and be in the moment.

One thing that I'd like to mention is that with selfie sticks if you're room gets dark from dancing the pictures aren't going to turn out that great from a cell phone, however a Photo Booth is usually properly lighted so you can still see all your guests and get a fun picture. Also, I loved looking at the pictures from our guests after the wedding but once I got pro pics I didn't really look at those pictures again. So you may not really care about the selfie shots later. However, I think you would probably look at Photo Booth pictures again since there are a lot of silly ones and fun things going on and it's still a decent picture.

If you do want to do the selfie stick, I'd just do one per table, I wouldn't take mine home with me if it was my favor.

I am doing a selfie stick photo booth at mine with a black back drop that has mr and mrs burgess and other cute ideas and our hastag. I will be putting 3 sticks at it and a stick on each table. Then you get the best of both worlds =)

We're planning to use selfie sticks and have at least one per table and some for the cocktail hour. With photobooth, I feel like everyone would crowd one area waiting in line rather than enjoying themselves on the dance floor. I think the selfie sticks can also help as an icebreaker for the tables

I think it's weird that photo booths have become so ubiquitous that people are now asking about them as a "this OR this?" question. I truly thought it was a fad that would die in 2-3 years, now I'm wishing I'd invested in a photo booth company....

How about neither? I'm clearly in the "photo booths are over done" camp, and while I don't hate selfie sticks, a room full of tipsy people in high heels running around with them sounds kind of iffy. But you've seen it play out before and loved it, so if you think your guests wouldn't annoy the heck out of each other, I say go for it.
