Self conscious of everything!

I’m re-using a dress I’ve worn before as my wedding gown. I wore it as a debutante about 15 years ago, and it still fits. However, I am starting to feel *super* self conscious when I put it on... all I can think about is that I need to immediately loose 20 lbs to look good in it. My arms feel like the worst part.. like they are giant sausages and everyone will be looking at the chub there. Admittedly, I waited until the last second to start thinking about my dress, because I figured “hey! I’ve already got that covered!” It might partially be that it has just sort of dawned on me that everyone will be staring at me in this dress. Right now, I don’t feel “beautiful” or “bridal.” Instead i feel insecure and self-conscious. It’s probably all in my head, but I was curious if any of you ladies have been having a similar head trip. I could use some feedback from someone that isn’t in my immediate circle.

Is this just wedding jitters, or maybe it’s really a “thing”? *keeps doing push-ups in the meantime*

You look stunning! I know what you mean tough! I’m so self conscious about every aspect of how I look. I feel like it’s only we that thinks that about myself though.

Girl you look great, please don't stress. My arm is probably twice the size of your thigh. You will be beautiful no matter what, and what matters most is how your fiance feels about seeing you in that gown. He will be on Cloud 9. As a plus sized bride who has lamented almost incessantly over this kind of image thing, one thing I have found is that the happiest brides are the prettiest. Cliche, yeah, but for good reason. Doesn't matter if youre 120 lbs or 340 lbs - if you're happy, and it shows, people will see beauty. Chin up!

I know exactly what you mean! I used to tell everyone, I don't want to look like a sausage lol. However, I have learned it is all in our head.... it's hard to change that mindset unless you change something about yourself. For me, it's waking up every morning and looking I'm the mirror and telling myself I look beautiful and then practicing a healthy fit lifestyle. I don't plan on losing much weight but I do think it will make me feel better overall! By the way, your arms look really good in the dress, not even close to a sausage look! Lol

What a wonderful thing to do for yourself, Denise. I am trying.

Ive also started an aggressive arm workout with a trainer so.. cross your fingers, everyone!

I want to thank everyone for their truly supportive an encouraging words. It’s been helpful. I’m not *there* yet, but I’m working on both my body and mindset. ♥️♥️♥️

Your arms look amazing! You look fabulous! If you're stil feeling self conscious maybe workout with a trainer for a few weeks to build up muscle and gain definition in your arms. I've been working with my trainer for a long time before I was even thinking about getting engaged and it has really helped me tone. It has also been nice that when my fiance sees me - he comments on the hard work I've been doing and others are starting to see it as well! All in all, your dress is beautiful, you're beautiful and you're marrying the love of your life! Have a great wedding day and an even better marriage!

I think you look great! I think you are just having wedding jitters, about all of the attention. I get nervous about that too. I don't really like a lot of attention or eyes on me.

I stare at my arms in the mirror every single day and think "Why have I not been lifting weights or doing something to get these arms looking nice??". As silly as it sounds, I'm worried that my arms will ruin all of my wedding photos lol so you're not alone!

    Yesss, Mikaela!!
I am a cardigan kind of girl (actually, more of a plaid flannel most days, let’s be honest) and I never really noticed the “arm goo” before until my friend snapped those pictures. I’ve recently lost about 80 lbs, and I think what I’m seeing is partially excess skin that hasn’t tightened up yet (or may never 😱).

I’ve started a rigorous arm routine over the last few days and have been on a strict diet again, and we shall see. We’ve got this though, girl!
