Security and a Guest List?

Hi everyone,

Are any of you having either security, your coordinator or another trusted person seeing to it that only people on the guest list are allowed to enter?

Will this person have your guest list with those who RSVPd? Just curious to see how you guys are handling guests coming in, and perhaps dealing with guests who did not RSVP but still showing up or who are bringing guests with them that you didn't even invite.

Is having the guest list at the door too... dramatic?

    Hi Jillian,

That sounds like an awesome plan. And it seems like it will work well for you too. The reminders are a fantastic tool to use. So no one has an excuse for not rsvping and then still showing up

    Hey Miss,

I totally understand that. Weddings are expensive and all guests have to do is RSVP yes or no. It's mind boggling how some folks will rsvp no but still show up, or don't rsvp at all and show up. They have the easy part. Just select yes or no! Sigh... I hope everything works out for all of us who may have these concerns. Thank you for you inputSmiley smile

I can’t remember who it was but there was a person my hubby was worried would just crash. I know he was worried about strangers crashing it but I told him no place card, no seat. We only had 50 guests so it would be super obvious.

We ended up hiring a local actress to play “host” and look up guests’ names and tell them their table name. It was fun and it would have stopped any unwelcome guests.

We are doing escort cards as well. We have a meal option available for our guests, so the escort card will have their name, table number, and entree that they chose to make the servers jobs easier.
We wont be hiring a bouncer or anything, but our wedding is going to be full of cops, as my FH is an officer. So I really don’t see any crashers getting very far lol. It’s definitely a know your crowd decision.

Andrea exactly. It's all about repetition somw people get so caught up with day to day things that they totally space on such events. Since my guest list is small I personally message them.

You’re welcome! Also I added in my wedding website about the fact that rsvps past the deadline would not be honored and strictly enforced rsvp the day of the event. I put it politely but firm so they get the point and also added in the website they unless specified on the rsvp we can’t accomodate plus one. I can share my wording if you’d like

If you don't receive an RSVP from an invited guest, you need to follow up with them to see if they're coming. There are any number of reasons why you may not have received a response, including that either the invitation or the RSVP card was lost in the mail. Just wait until a few days after your RSVP date (since a lot of people drop it in the mail on the date) and then call anyone you haven't heard from and ask. If you have to leave a message just say something like you haven't heard from them and you need to turn your numbers in to your caterer soon, you hope they can make it, but if you don't hear from them by X date you're going to put them down as a no.

Due to particular concerns the parking attendant at the entrance of the venue will ask the driver of each car what their name is. The attendant won’t have the guests but rather a do not enter list. Long story short I have a restraining order against someone and we have to make sure they aren’t permitted in if they show. My venue provides an off duty police officer who will handle it if that person comes

It depends on the place. Mine wont serve food without a place tag. Therefore without an invite or rsvp if someone shows up random they arent getting food

If it is something that you are really worried about, I would have a trusted friend hold onto a list. Do what makes you feel comfortable.

Look, the way this budget is set up.... No RSVP, do not come. And don’t bring people I didn’t invite. I don’t care if it’s your soon to be wife/husband. I don’t know them and they can’t come! My WP informed me that we would have an excel sheet for person handing out escort cards. They will have their name checked off as they enter.
