Second thoughts on wedding dress!! HELP

Kailey, on January 17, 2014 at 11:25 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 25

So i started shopping for a wedding dress a month after i got engaged and i bought one the second time shopping and i had only looked at that one store and only a hand full of gowns. I wasn't happy with the people i brought with me to shop and was getting stressed and annoyed and after having everyone handing me dresses that THEY wanted to see me in i just kind of picked one that i really thought i loved.. but now i'm wondering if i maybe rushed it to much. I've been contemplating going back to look at a store but my dress is already completely paid for i am so stressed about this i want to be happy walking down the aisle but all i can think about is getting a new dress. i'm really unhappy with what i chose and don't know what to do.. i also don't like the veil i picked out. Has anyone else had this problem? Please help me

I love your dress: ( if your not happy sell it and go look for one with people who won't nag and push you!

I didn't have that problem, I tried on 3 dresses and 3rd was a charm, momma picked it and I love it

I think this dress is beautiful... but most importantly, you look beautiful in it. I know exactly how you feel though. I've hated my dress ever since i bought it but when i remember how i felt in it, i breathe a sigh of relief. Look, realistically, it's a dress, there is no limit as to how nice it can get (depending on budget), your taste can change with your mood. I think you should approach this as you would a multiple choice test - as my teacher used to say - your first answer is most likely right.

I just felt like it was meant for me to get that dress it was way under budget it had just arrived i was the first person to even try it on fit me like a glove and got a 10% discount since it was off the sales rack. But then i started to look at other styles that i didn't even try one and i really like the look of the mermaid gowns. maybe it's just nerves i would hate to sell it and then change my mind again. Thank you for the suggestions and compliments though. I think i may need to try it one soon then maybe i'll fall in love with it again because pictures never do justice.

I love it on you. I hope you change your mind about it. I don't think it helps you continue to look because it will confuse you and cause you to second guess.

First of all, the dress is gorgeous on you, and looks very good with your body. They say that finding the right Silhouette is the hardest part, and you did that beautifully. I am having a terrible time choosing my dress, gone to many salons, just NOT finding it. However, I have learned something that may help you out. If you want to keep the same dress, there are many many things you can do to take it from feeling so-so to your perfect dress! Adding sleeves, or lace, changing the tulle or chiffon colors or adding or taking away layers on the bottom, adding appliques, adding crystals, adding a new veil and finding jewelry that make you feel amazing. I do not think you NEED to add or change anything, but the important thing is that you feel special and amazing on your day. If you find a seamstress that you like and trust, and do not want to take the plunge to get a different dress...the right person can make is SEEM completely different, see what they can do with it! Good Luck!

Thanks for all your advise. I wish I could just go back because I've recently found that I would LOVE to have mermaid lace gown and I'm just heartbroken that I feel like I have to stay with this gown. It was almost $800 it's not a crazy expensive dress but I also don't want to loose money my wedding is in August though so It would have to sell fast then I'd have to save up more money for the new one. I wish I wouldn't have jumped into buying this so soon.

You shouldn't feel heartbroken with your gown...you should feel amazing in your gown....what about trunk shows, where they sell everything immediately and at a large discount? Or search Davids Bridal during their $99 sale? Post your gown for sale immediately and maybe someone will offer to buy it. It will work out. Smiley smile

That's a great idea! Thank you so much for all the help everyone. I think I'm going to shop around for a new one and get something in mind before I sell i put it up for sale. I'm going to try to take my time with this next one. I'd rather have one I dislike than not have one at all.

I am your twin in this post as I earlier posted about the EXACT same situation. Firstly, you look beautiful and your dress fits perfectly!

I also went shopping, loved the fit of mermaid/fit n flair gowns but in the end fell in love with and bought a princess gown. Now I am having serious doubts as it is so not the style I thought I would've ended up with. I m also not loving my veil. My dress cost me $600 and now I would lose that money if I were to get another. Such a tough situation. Also, with your dress you can see the fit and it looks great! Mine still needs altering and hemming and Im worried that I'll eventually look so short in my gown.

What if you tried to sell this dress? It wouldn't be a total loss and you could use the money towards a dress you want.

Yes I had this issue. Luckily, DB lets you exchange a dress within 6 months of purchase for the same price or more. I just exchanged a dress yesterday because I finally went looking alone and found a dress I absolutely LOVE!!! No one other than my mom and my son will see it before my wedding day. Try this and then decide how you feel. GOOD LUCK!!!!

I second guessed my dress too bc i also went to two shops! I have the dress and i actually went back to the store to try on my exact dress and felt that feeling i first felt which is the reason i got the dress! I kept looking online after i bought my dress...stupid choice! If you bought it it's because you did fall in love with it and maybe you just need to try it on one more time to feel it again! btw you look beautiful in your dress!!
