Second thoughts on non traditional wedding dress

Hello everyone!
I’m getting married on 9/7/19. I’m not a very traditional person and I never really saw myself wearing white at my wedding plus I’m on a pretty tight budget. Our wedding is going to be relatively small and laid back. I looked at bridesmaid and evening dresses online and found a embroidered champagne Calvin Klein gown at Macy’s for just over $100. I loved it immediately and ordered it and never really looked at other dresses.
Yesterday I had my first fitting after some alterations and I kind of hate my dress 🤦🏼‍♀️. I don’t know what it is, but I don’t even feel comfortable in it anymore and I’m starting to regret picking something different/non traditional. I’m not really sure what to do and I’m starting to panic.
I’m not sure I have the time or money to find something else, so I’m hoping some inspiration will help me feel better about my decision.

Has anyone here worn a “non traditional” wedding dress? I’d love to see pictures!!

You could sell it or find ways you'd like the dress better. Perhaps a belt? Perhaps you can buy a detachable skirt to go over it? Fix the sleeves? Etc. Do you have pics of the dress?

Pictures could give us ideas as to maybe “fixing” this dress.... But look on EBay for a more traditional one, or even the local thrift/consignment shop

I plan to wear something a little non traditional. I tried on traditional just so I could make sure I was absolutely sure I hated white dresses... I did.

I'm going completely non traditional and wearing black. I'm absolutely in love with my dress in how classic and unique it is.

Do you think the dress has objective issues (a photo of it would help) or are you maybe just having a dress regret, which is pretty common? What made you fall in love with it originally & what do you hate about it now?

If you’re just panicking because you didn’t pick a traditional, white gown, don’t! You won’t miss on anything & non-traditional dress based on what you described fits your style better. My dress is very non-traditional too (even though it technically comes from a bridal collection). I had a few moments of “oh my god, should I wear white, poofy dress like everybody else” but every time I put my dress on, I just love it & I know it’s so me. And that’s the only thing that matters!

What is it you don't like about it? If it's what you want, then don't let concerns about it being non-traditional worry you. If, on the other hand, you just don't feel like a bride in it, even though you originally thought you didn't want a traditional bridal gown, maybe there are things you can do to help you feel more bridal, such as accessories?

A wedding dress is simply the dress you wear for your wedding. Nothing says you have to wear a traditional gown! You fell in love with the dress for a reason. I had dress regrets quite a few times with my tea length non traditional dress but I'm so glad I didn't change my mind. Can we see pics of the dress?

I love non-traditional dresses. We are two years out, but I already have this lace dress and I’m really loving this other one. Navy accents would be added to either.

You could always make an appt at a David's Bridal. They have the $99 and under dresses or you can buy off the rack at affordable prices. If anything you can look at traditional, try some on and then decide. The good thing is that if you find a favorite traditional dress, you can go home and retry on the dress you already bought and see how they compare!
