Second thoughts about your paid in full gowns!

Kelly, on March 12, 2020 at 3:30 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 38
So i know im not the i only bride who has “dress regrets” i ordered my gown and paid in full and it was not cheap. The dress is gorgeous however i hate how i look in it when i go back to my photos. Im going to wait til it arrives to try it back on in the correct size, but im also at the point where i am already planning to exchange! I need something the complements body better i think, i am and always have been very self conscious of my size and i also feel i picked the one I bought out of feeling pressured and overwhelmed, now i feel its not the one. Post your regretted gowns.....curvy ladies post “the one “ i need inspiration!!

Ah so is the gown currently not in the correct sizing? Because when it is it does make a huge difference

Do you think if you changed parts of it up like add accessories or what not, it could help with your perception of it ?

Second thoughts about your paid in full gowns! 1
This was the first dress I bought. we paid in full and I absolutely loved it... for about 2 weeks. The dress came in on the 3rd week and the regret had really started to set it. I still thought it was salvageable until I tried mine on at home and I hated everything about how I looked in it, and it brought up some very real body image issues I’ve struggled with in the past. I felt enormous in it. So I went back and was able to exchange it for the dress i have now that is still a ball gown, but has a very different cut in the waistline that is much more flattering on me.

Moral of the story I guess, is wait until yours comes in and try it on. See how you feel about it when it’s in your correct size. If you still hate it, pay attention to that. Don’t feel pressured to keep it just because it was expensive. But if you still love it, awesome! Best of luck 💚

Omg, I had regrets in the EXACT same dress!!! I woke up in the middle of the night crying about how I was stuck with a horrible dress.

I think I felt pressured to get a dress and ended up settling for something that I kinda liked. I did like the embellished bodice and the sequin layer underneath, but it just wasn't right. I didn't wait for it to come in; I called and canceled (full refund). I, too, ended up with another ballgown, but this time without all of the panic! Smiley laugh

I felt pressured to get it because my mom was in town and she was leaving the next day. It was a near perfect mixture of the 2 dresses i had been stuck between at the time, and I somehow managed to convince myself it was perfect. I ended up exchanging it for the dress I’d loved from the start but didn’t get because my mom and FMIL thought it was boring (no lace or beading on it at all) and I couldn’t be happier.

Hey girl! Dress regret is like one of the rites of passage for brides, and you are not alone. I bought a dress because I felt like I had one shopping trip when my mom would be with me. She didn't particularly like the dress, but she thought I did. I only liked it because it fit me at the time! It took me awhile, thirty pounds of weight loss and one dress exchange to really feel good about myself. So stay strong! If you really feel like you need to exchange, do it! It's not worth the anxiety.

Okay, I had some MAJOR regret with that dress lol. I thought the skirt was fun, but I stared at that photo and ended up haaaating all of it. When I went to exchange it, I handed the dress over and said something like "the ruffle nightmare is yours". I also obsessed over how weird that corset was until I got a different dress and immediately felt better lol.

I didn't have dress regret so to speak I love my dress. But I was upset and regretted not being able to try a certain dress on. I wanted to try a dress that have a ruffled/ layered skirt. The salon I bought my dress from only had a dress like that in a size 4 or 6. I am not a size 4 or 6. I moved on and kept trying on different dresses. Ended up finding one I loved and thought I forgot about that ruffled dress. I still think about that skirt sometimes, I think I would have stilled ended up in my current dress but dang sometimes I wish I could have tried that tiny person dress on.

Ugh i am regretting this dress!!.... im going to post pictures... i had the woman clip on off shoulder sleeves so it looks slightly different... but looking at it now i feel likr a potato! Or like a very unattractive cupcake. Its giving me likr a childish vibe like prom or sweet 16 look aside from the fact that i feel my body is unattractive as it is ughh🙄

Yes that's it! I wanted an ivory dress, but they gave me that champagne monstrosity that reminded me more of a sweet 16 dress. It hung in our closet for a few months before I just. Had to go back and try things on. It's kind of an older style dress and also a little too over the top. I always wanted a mermaid fit because I really never wanted an over the top dress, so I was happy to find that I could fit a mermaid.

Girl your figure is amazing! That being said, the dress itself may be that overdramatic like I said in my other post. Do yourself a favor and exchange it if it really bothers you. You look kind of uncomfy in the dress too, not that I blame you. Pretty dress, more for dramatic people.

Thanks i wish i felt comfortable in my own skin though! I think i will wait a few more weeks after the dress arrives and go in with exact dresses of different silhouettes and try them all on, i went in with some pictures of what i liked but thinking back, the attendant didn’t pull a single one of them! Next time i go i will be a little more assertive lol

Yep, you have to be assertive with them because they'll kind of just pull things. If you want, you could also go to a different David's bridal. I found that different stores give you vastly different experiences. It'll be ok - I would go try things on again after you have your actual dress. But calling it a teenager's dress probably isn't a good sign lol. Your dress should make you feel beautiful!
