Second Shooter?

How does everyone feel about a second shooter? Is this a must have for you? The photographers I'm comparing either have it included in the package, or I will have to add it. I'm already looking at photography prices at the top of what I want to spend. I just wonder if a second shooter is worth...

If I had an unlimited budget, maybe I would opt for a second shooter. I've said this a few times on here before, I've only heard newlyweds complain about not having enough photos. Most couples don't think twice about it as they carry on with their lives. That being said, all of these people did have photography of some sort and got at least the one good shot to have throughout time. I definitely don't discount the importance of a good photographer though.

Also, a lot of people I know aren't that close to their bridal party anymore so all of the photos (and time and money) spent on those shots are essentially a waste now.

I won't be hiring a 2nd shooter as well since i will only have 75 ppl and not really planning on having getting ready pics. We will probably just have pics with my bridal party with our dresses on and my fh will be next door where our main photographer can just take a couple pics of his groomsmen. We only have 3 for each which shouldnt take long. She will still take pics of the wedding details but since my fh and I will be in close proximity we should be good.

I have never worked with one, for the sake of style consistency and a non intrusive experience. I built my system around my approach. Do you need it? No. A really good photographer is plenty capable of telling a strong cohesive story. The question is how is this photographer used to working? Get the recommendation of your photographer, don't just listen to a bunch of people who tell you more of everything is always better. Do what makes sense for you and how it makes sense for your photographer to work.

My photographer is a husband and wife duo.

That's a commonly used pitch....and if I were married...I'd use it too! That doesn't mean both are equally qualified in all those cases.
