Second dress question

Why are so many ladies doing a separate dress for the reception? I am only curious. With spending so much on the first dress, why go with another one.

Yes it does make sense because you want it to look nice and to be nice

I still have alterations (June 1st). Front of dress just needs shortened so I can walk without stepping on it and go from zipper to lace up back. I think I need to schedule an appointment to see about a petticoat so my dress can get the poof

I've been to 40-50 weddings in my lifetime and I honestly can't say I've ever seen someone change into a second dress. I had a giant ballgown but had it bustled after the ceremony and wore it the whole night, even to the afterparty!

I'm going to see if the store I got my dress from has a petticoat that I can try on before my alterations appointment. That way I can order the petticoat first.

Same! Mine is purely cultural where are weddings are extended for hours. This is inherent to not merely Asian culture but African as well and not considered a fad but a norm.

My skirt is tulle and covered in embellishments, so it just wasn’t feasible- it would look like a bunched-up mess and damage the material. I think the majority of brides bustle their dresses and have no issues though! Your dress is absolutely beautiful on you!!

Thank you. I just need to find the right petticoat to make it have poof, then alterations.

It’s certainly heavy. Wish me luck because after 10 hours I’ll be so ready to take it off and never wear it again I’m sure lol

If you're okay without a train, you could have it cut off. Then the dress will be floor length and easy to walk around in without a bustle. That's what I'm doing.

My dress still needs to be altered. I'm hoping that with alterations and a petticoat the train won't be so bad.

I was thinking about it for about a day but I just can't afford a second dress. My train is 3ft before alterations and petticoat. I'll see what the difference is after those are done.
