So, my dilemma is: Guest seating chart or No

My fiancée says it will cause bottle-necking and it would take too long for our guests to find their names on the list, so he wants to do away with it… However, I want the list because it will keep everyone organized and it’s just an elegant detail to have assigned seating. Please help. What do you think?

They just indicate what table a person is sitting at (essentially, they "escort" the person to their table). Especially at round table it doesn't matter where at that table people sit.

If you are doing long farmhouse type table, it might make sense to do place cards so everyone has a specific seat - but other than that, i think it's unnecessary. People can arrange themselves at the table, just tell them which table to go to!

    Got cha’.
I will be having farm tables so I’ll most likely stick with the place cards.

    Thank you Ladies! 🥰

Interesting views! My FH and I were talking about not having seating charts because we wanted everyone to just sit together, but now I see where it may be a bit awkward. We’re only planning on 100 or less and most from out of town/my side. I may have to rethink it!

Glad you decided to do these! It actually creates more confusion and lingering around not to use these. One perk of arranged seating, which could help “sell” it to FH, is that seating people can help their experience go better. Place people with others they have things in common with so they end up sitting with people they’ll enjoy!

I started out making a seating chart as my invite list.

As I get back any No’s, I remove their name.

It will result in less confusion and a bunch of overcrowded and empty tables in your pictures.

For the most part, I placed co-workers at the same table and then mixed in the friends and family so that they can meet new people.

Organize the seating chart on a board or something that you can place on an easel or something. List it alphabetical like this: last name, first name - table number.

That should be very easy to find your seats and not cause bottle necking.
