So, silly question here. My wedding is relatively casual but after reading forums here, realize it's best to do assigned seating so we won't have any problems fitting everyone into our small venue. We’re not assigning seats per say, but are numbering and assigning tables. There will be a table once you get into the reception area with a local bakers cookies individually wrapped. Each cookie will have the guests name and table number. They double as wedding favors and this insures that everyone gets one of her cookies. They’re so popular we usually run out at parties before a guest or two gets one, no matter how many dozen we order it seems!

I was going to have table numbers but I think I am going to go ahead and reserve 2 tables for my immediate family and 2 for his. everyone else will sit wherever they want to. This is how it is usually done at my venue and after seeing it work with 50 guests, 100 guests, and even 200-250 guests while working as a wedding DJ assistant, I am not worried at all. I think seating charts are so stressful and aren't always necessary.

My venue is just really tight on seating and with 7 chairs at each round table, I can easily see how open seats would be left at each table. I used the WW seating chart to estimate based on who I think is coming and I could see how it could get hairy. Also, my reception space is indoor/outdoor, so I'm debating me and FH sitting outside so more people can sit inside. I don't know...

We are doing escort cards with assigned tables (not seats).

We found doing simple cards were much more affordable than having a sign made (I am not crafty at all) and if someone says last minute that they can come after all or that they can't come even though they RSVPed yes, I don't have to get a whole new sign, I just add or remove an escort card.

We are also doing tables instead or assigned seats because it will insure everyone has a seat but not be any where near as much stress.
