Seating chart- table numbers

Allie, on March 15, 2019 at 1:02 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 25

So, silly question here. My wedding is relatively casual but after reading forums here, realize it's best to do assigned seating so we won't have any problems fitting everyone into our small venue. I'm having round tables with 7 seats at each. What exactly are you doing to let people know where to sit? A sign? Table numbers? I'm confused on the logistics of this.

We're doing table numbers and escort cards. I think seating chart signs are super cute, but logistically not the best idea since you can't change them once they're complete.

How many people are you having total? I think that makes a difference with seating chart vs. escort cards.

That being said, you'll need table numbers (or something labeling each table) regardless of if you use a chart or the cards.

So do you have the escort cards set up on a table for them to get and find their table number?

Inviting 95 but will probably have 80-85 show up. We don't have much space, so I didn't want to add an extra table to sit the escort cards on.

We'll set them on a table or some kind of display, not sure yet. They'll be in alphabetical order so it's easy for everyone to find theirs and move on without causing a traffic jam.

So I had about 80 at our wedding. We did escort cards but used a slotted door to hang them. Saved me from using another table.

At every wedding I’ve attended the escort cards are placed on the same table as the guest book and/or cardbox. Is that an option? If not you could do some kind of framed seating chart on an easel.

We are using a bistro table for the guest book so probably too small. I'm going to find something vertical like the slotted doors to hang escort cards on.

Good idea. I'm thinking about putting it outside the entrance, where there is space for everybody to wait.

I will be DIYing a sign very similar to this. We are doing buffet style so no place cards/escort cards.

Usually there is a seating chart at the beginning of the reception with some kind of organization (whatever you want) to show people where they are sitting. Then each table has a table number on it! If you want to assign each seat, you can also have a card at each seat rather than just assigning tables. Some people also do escort cards as opposed to a seating chart, so people find their name on a card outside the reception and it says "Mr. Smith Table 6" or whatever!

This is what we used! The easel was borrowed from the venue.

I love this!! We're doing the same keys/bottle openers as seating assignments and I've been searching for a way to display them.
