Seating chart or let people sit wherever?

Amanda, on August 10, 2017 at 10:08 PM Posted in Planning 0 73

Are you doing a seating chart? I've never really cared for them when I was a guest. It also makes me nervous if people who didn't RSVP show up. I'm having a wedding with around 150-200 guests in attendance. Should I make a chart or just allow everyone to sit where they want. Advice/ experiences would be so appre

You absolutely need a seating chart. Especially with that many people. At least assign tables.

I wasn't going to do a seating chart and then my sister told me people who don't know other people at tables will always leave a random seat or two out. She said I'll have a bunch of seats empty at different tables and it will throw off people who know each other who come later on

I think assigning table numbers is a good idea so people don't nervously stand around, unsure of which table to go to

Absolutely assign tables. Don't make your wedding feel like a high school cafeteria.

With that many people maybe you should do a chart. I'm not doing one but it's just family so everyone knows everyone

I am not doing a seating chart either but I have a lot less guests and will have a few extra tables. OP you would probably benefit from assigned tables like others have suggested...

If you don't want to do a seating chart at least do assigned tables.

Definitely do a seating chart. I always think about the fact that my grandmother would be stuck in the back while all of the more spry individuals snag the tables up front.

Def assign tables, otherwise it is going to be a huge clusterf%ck! This is the last thing you need to deal with on your big day!

Definitely do a seating chart. Its so annoying to try and put your things down at one seat just to find some rando sitting there later

Seating chart for sure! No one wants to lose their seat or wander around looking for a seat

I absolutely hate seating charts so we aren't doing one. I've been to weddings where I have wanted to sit with certain people, but due to a seating chart we would end up tables away. We are also having roughly 150-170 people. We decided to just reserve a few tables near us for immediate family and the bridal party (we are doing a sweetheart table) and have 2-3 extra tables set up for odd couples.

A little anecdote for you all- my brother didn't do a seating chart and my ex and I ended up sitting alone at his wedding. It was really embarrassing!

I think table assignments would be great. I don't like having to ask strangers if I can sit with them. I prefer to be told to sit with them instead. Makes for an easier ice breaker in my opinion!

Assigned tables might work best for you. Never thought about that idea.

We are expecting 150-160 at our wedding and we are not doing a seating chart. We are also doing a sweetheart table and have nearby tables reserved for our parents and the bridal party.

We are not doing a seating chart, but we are reserving tables for our parents. We will have about 120 people.
