Seating Chart Mirror - Calligraphy

Patricia, on February 21, 2018 at 1:01 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 24
So I've been looking for a mirror to do this DIY Seating Chart or even find an affordable person who does calligraphy to assist with this project; looking to do something as pictured. Has anyone done this before??

    More than likely something like that is done with a cricut. I doubt anyone was writing like that directly on the mirror. You may be able to find someone on etsy to do that for you.

    I'm planning to do that for my seating chart but I haven't attempted yet so I can't tell you how it went until this September.

    You can definitely find someone to write on the mirror and not use a circuit. You will want to find someone local who will rent the mirrors to you as well

    You definitely don’t need a cricut to do that. I like to do calligraphy and you would use a white chalk marker to get that same look. Follow @calligkatrina on Instagram- she posts videos of her doing calligraphy on mirrors all the time. She lightly traces out lines first and the words she’s going to write then writes over them and cleans up the edges after

    Just here to add a comment about the mirror, I bought a used mirror nearly identical to that one for my vanity at a Salvation Army for $7. You don't have to buy it brand new. Check out thrift shops!

    Our florist is doing this for us. But our florist also has thousands of rentable pieces of decor for weddings and does more "design" than just "florals".

    If there's no one around you who does that, I would check Etsy. I've seen some on there where people give you the decals of the names to put on a mirror you buy/have. There are also calligraphy people on Instagram who do this and can send them to you - but I'm sure it's $$$ to send a huge mirror. One such person who's work I am familiar with is: calligraphybyct

    I am doing this for my seating chart. I found plenty of people who write directly on the mirror in calligraphy, but a lot of the quotes were expensive - not sure if it's based on location or what (I'm in Boston) but someone who came highly recommended quoted me $350 and that included the writing and to rent the mirror. Her work is beautiful, but I couldn't justify it for the amount.

    I found someone who does calligraphy for fun on the side and has done mirrors before and she's charging me $150 with a couple of smaller signs included. Definitely look around.

    I also "favorited" a shop on Etsy that would do the decals for me to apply if I wasn't able to find someone to write directly on it. It's doable! Try asking for recommendations on your local wedding FB page!

    I found them on Etsy but they are all located across the county... The price for calligraphy plus shipping of the mirror is outrageous

    Right, this is exactly what I'm looking for but I'm having a really hard time finding it I'm located in Las Vegas and thus far the only type of calligraphers I found are in the Boston area from Etsy which i love just can't justify spending

    So I've been on etsy and pinterest and different websites looking for a calligraphers including the knot as well as wedding wire, from there the calligraphers that are responsive are just crazy expensive or on the East Coast.

    I'm located in Las Vegas and I found many calligraphers in the Boston area actually that's where this photo is from an Etsy listing, someone in Boston but the shipping is $60 plus each way to even ship the mirror on top of the calligraphy costs which just makes the cost way higher then I was looking to pay

    A friend has a long, big mirror that is the prefect size for this project. I purchased colored chalk markers that write on chalk surfaces and mirrors and am planning to write the names myself. But I have pretty good handwriting. If you are specifically looking for a calligrapher to do this project, I recommend finding a large mirror at Goodwill or Salvation Army and look at Etsy to find a calligrapher near or around your area.

    I follow a few calligraphers on Instagram who are a little closer to you than the person you follow in Boston. I don't know if they'd be cheaper, but worth a shot!

    @theycallmespindles (I took a calligraphy class from her and she's great! She's in Phoenix)

    @tennletters (I believe she's in Texas)

    @jennadaviswrites (I believe she's in Oklahoma)

    Of course!

    I was considering doing this as well, but now I'm thinking I'll just purchase an editable PDF from Etsy where I can just type in the guests' names and have it printed as a poster at Staples or something. Might be cheaper.

    We did the mirror thing for listing our WP and timeline, but my mom just wrote it on herself using paint markers. it wasn't quite this fancy but it worked out well--she has really nice printing though, which helped a lot, and it did take us a couple of tries (and more markers than we expected to go through)
