Seating Chart Help!

Amy, on September 17, 2019 at 2:11 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9
We’re going to have a seating chart, so how should we order the names??
Alphabetical by last name?
Alphabetical by first name?
Bridal party/ parents first at their tables and then everyone else random down the list? If I do it this way where do I put the names of the bridal party’s plus ones?
The problem with alphabetical is that plus ones and non married couples are separated on the poster. I feel like that looks and is super weird. And at her table, my maid of honor is bottom of the list? Does that look unthoughtful to her? I feel like I’m overthinking and missing something obvious😂 help me!

Alphabetical by last name is easiest. It's completely fine for units with different last names to be separated on the seating chart.

We did alphabetical by last name and separated people with different last names (unmarried/plus ones). That’s the easiest I found.

I think alphabetical by last name makes it easiest for people to find their name. Most people are used to being sorted that way at some point in their lives.

Alphabetical by last name looks really nice on all the seating charts I’ve seen. They’re gonna look at the board once or twice the whole night and I’m sure they won’t be upset at having their names separated from their s/o.

If you put people’s plus ones with them, such as Mr. John Doe & Ms. Jane Smith, you can just alphabetize them based off the first persons name. I would list the person you know first and then their guest. For a married couple, it wouldn’t make a difference. I personally wouldn’t separate couples because it could cause a little backup with people searching all over for names.
