What's the easiest/fastest way, with the least amount of lines on how to create a seating chart for 900 guests?

Just line them up on the bleachers....I assume you have to have your reception in a stadium?

You're welcome. Creating sections could make it a little easier. 90 guests would be 18 sections of 5 tables each, and you could just appoint a section for each guest, letting them choose the tables in that section.

An alphabetical display is always easiest for guests to locate their section.

Hire planners! That sounds like hell trying to plan for 900 people alone!

You could send out their table number with their invites. Just start with families and go from there.

How the hell do you keep everything straight?

900 people?! I have so many questions..

    - how do you get 900 people to show up on time?

    - are you getting married at a stadium?

    - is it 450 per side?

    - how many are kids?

These are all really rhetorical, I'm just massively impressed. I agree with breaking up the chart alphabetically and placing multiple around the room.

Two large families, or families who work in high profile jobs can easily create a guest list nearing 1,000. The largest guest list I have worked with was near 800. The mother of the bride worked in a high position for a large corporation, and the parents of the groom are well known, and have a large family. They served plated dinners, chicken, beef or vegetarian and it was organized. It can be done : )

Since it is outside, I would do boards covered in fabric or varnished maybe? You can then attach names to it (on paper tags, on ribbons or even painted/written on the fabric). The wood should be heavy enough to keep the wind at bay.

I did see a photo somewhere of a wood and glass door. The names were written on the glass panes. That would be heavy enough too. It's similar to the photo that goskell posted, except it is standing up. You could attach 2 or more doors with hinges to fit all the names you have. It can almost look like a room divider.

The other idea, which is much more time consuming, is to paint local rocks with the names. Set them up on tables by alphabet.

We do larger events that are corporate. We have someone with a book that will look up the name and tell them where to sit. You could have a couple people acting as a concierge of sorts that can point people where they need to be.

Last thought is to use technology. Use an ipad or tablet, people can type their name in and it can pop up to tell them where to sit. There must be an app for that. Smiley smile

Oh goodness, 900! I thought my 550-600 was bad. We're only doing seating chart for our head table. Everyone else has the freedom to sit where they want, with whoever they want. I'm not seating all those people. Good luck!

    1. Go buy a case of wine

    2. Open wine

    3. Start drinking wine

    4. Write everyone's name on a piece of paper5.

    5. Place names in a hat

    6. Pull number of names out needed per table

Definitely hire someone to help and has experience with large events. I would also be sure to have someone or two man the table...maybe handing out the place cards.

Wow - that is HUGE! We only have a guest list of 115 and we would love for them all to come, but are only expecting about 80-90 to attend. That sounds like it would be a massive headache to plan, but a rockin' party to attend! Good luck with your planning. I would also suggest having friends/staff to direct attendees into the dining area.

Ummm.....is this for real or a troll?

I just can't imagine a 900 guest wedding unless you're Michael Jordan or royalty.

If this is for real....I can't even imagine the headache. If you can afford to have 900 guests, I'm thinking you can afford to make this someone else's headache! Hire a coordinator or event planner to deal with it.
