Seating Arrangement Help

Blair, on October 31, 2019 at 5:01 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 11

So I know most people here hate the thought of a head table, but that's what I plan to do for my wedding. My questions is do I sit all my girls on one side and all the guys on the other side or sit them guy, girl, guy girl. I hope this makes sense. Thanks for your input.

Typically you would have your attendants on your side and your FS would have their attendants on their side. I've never seen them alternate.

Me either but my MOH suggested it and I told her I didn't like the idea of them alternating. She suggested it was tacky to sit all the girls on one side and all the guys on the other. I told my FH what she said and he agreed with her. I just wanted an unbiased opinion from someone else.

I think everyone here knows I'd be the first one to say if it was tacky and I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. I think it would be way more awkward to alternate, especially if they aren't all friends with each other. Sounds like your MOH just has someone specific she wants to sit next to.

We mixed ours up. H had a couple cousins on his side, and I had his sisters, they all sat on his side at dinner. One of his GM's was good friends with my BM's, so I sat them together. Just put people next to who you think they'd like to sit with, there doesn't have to be an order.

That said, I wouldn't alternate, just to alternate. We just put people next to who they probably preferred to sit with without a lot of thought to who was on what side or keeping GM/BM even on both sides or anything.

See with our group all my bridesmaid pretty much know each other and all his groomsmen know each other. So logically it wouldn't make since for my bridal party to alternate. I see why yours were mixed up though.

Then yeah i'd probably just keep them separate. Or honestly, just pick your own seats and let the rest sit wherever they want at the head table (just like any other table assignment). There's really not a wrong answer!

I have always seen head tables arranged so that the bride and groom were in the middle and the bridesmaids were all on the bride’s side, groomsmen were all on the groom‘s side. There really are no “rules” to weddings anymore though, so I say do whatever you prefer for your wedding party!

The same as the ceremony so all girls on your side and all the guys on his side of the table.
