Scheduling Alterations

Danielle, on January 22, 2020 at 2:15 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4

When should I schedule alterations for my gown? All it needs is to be hemmed. There's no major changes like taking in or out. My wedding is August 1st.

I was advised to do it 2-3 months in advanced at the latest. You should ask whoever will be doing your alterations what their turnaround time is, and then add some time on top of that as a buffer.

I got my hem done over a year out. I’m not getting any taller and I already had my shoes and heel height

I started mine 4 months in advance!

I would call the seamstress you're planning on going through and asking their opinion. When I called mine she recommended 4 months because she's the only one who does alterations and it's a small business which means longer turn around time Smiley smile

I see her one a month to try the dress on again to make sure it fits and that the alterations she's doing fit my body type Smiley smile

I too would advise you to speak with the seamstress you've chosen and ask him/her turn around time and when they would recommend you book in for Smiley smile You never know how large their workload would be and you want to ensure you're scheduled in!
